Hi Guys

I just got a Canon FS100 the problem is, when I copied the video files to my PC it has an MOD extension and cannot be played directly unless I remane it to MPG. Also I tried to edit the renamed version in Adobe Premier Pro CS3, the sound is removed. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

U may want to try the editing software that comes with the camcorder. Can do basis editing.

Sorry,,,do not have an immediate answer for you. But in Amazon, there was a whole batch of reviews and sometimes hints and advise on using the FS1000. I did not take a good look. But it might have something useful for your questions. (no guarantee though)

I have also just ordered this camera, not arrived yet. How do you find it?

Just as I was glancing at the reviews again...I saw this advice on Adobe CS3. Hope it works for you

I have pasted a short portion here:

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 to edit the footage. You will need a file called ad2ac3dec.dll placed in the Premiere directory in order to pull in the audio feed however. Works like a champ!

The audio codec the camera records to is AC3. There is a file called ad2ac3dec.dll in the Encore directory (if you have it). You need to put a copy of that file in the premiere directory.

I assume you have to either Google this DLL to download, or copy it from Encore's directory (if you have Encore). Let me know if it works out because I plan to upgrade Premiere sooner or later =)

Hi Ahren, thanks for the link I'll check it out. As for the FS100 it's great start for a video camera, easy to use, handy and light, battery life is great. Even my 4 year old daughter can use it easily. :bsmilie:
