Since no lens attanched, will take it as f1.0, so with ISO 6400, 7sec. What is the EV?

good qns. the ev is like -3 at least. haha.

the thing is, the lens cap is on the body when the pic is snapped.
Ok, just now was on the move, now back home Google the EV table, the EV table is base on ISO 100, since ISO 6400 is 6 stops from ISO 100, so the EV should be -9EV.

at least that one u can see the light leaking in. can u tell which is the one with the light leak in the pics i posted?

Maybe canon will fix coming batchs with the problem addressed and send notification to us for exchange 1 for 1 . :bsmilie:

I believe tis is not a big issue for most of the Miii user but just an irritating problem to alotz of Miii user. Coz we dnt feel good paying more then $4k to buy a camera with a problem. But on the other hand if tey wan to strip my baby up to fix this light leak issue, i rather dont get it fixed! I believe at least 90% of the assemble is done by precision machine in japan n if tey r tinking of stripping my baby and assemble back manually by local technician...... i cannot bring myself to do it

Juz my 2cents worth of tot ^_*

No, I can't.

for the Nikon 24-70 lens, compare the light leak into the window, than the light enter the lens from the front elements, is insignificant. this Korean Photographer making this an issue, is like "Making a mountain out of a molehill".

Just wait n see what canon sg will do lor. One for one exchange wld b great but I wont be holding my breath for that to happen. Most likely it will be a free fix once canon jp comes up with one. Actually if canon gives me a free battery grip and gps module and/or ex600 flash instead of a fix...:p

I fully agree with your point that any hardware correction from Canon to address the issue will worsen the situation. The early adopters become the victim of Canon's mistakes. Again,I agree with your decision not to send the camera for hardware correction as it is done at local service centre and this process can no way match the factory assembling precision and accuracy. Affected early adopters would be happy with any possible corrections through firmware or software updates and in my opinion it is not possible in this case. If new batches are released with hardware correction, then early adopters should be treated fairly by one to one exchange. Keep fingers crossed!

Take the 5d mirror drop out as lesson. How soon it admit a design issue.
When it ready for fix.just a epoxy fix the issue.upon the product approach.
End of line.a much better fix are available with a bracket clamp the
Mirror with foc.But how about early user bring this issue back to Csc.do they
Bare the service charge ? May those user need to speak up.
Now those whose delay register of the warranty.may need to act first.

Hope firmware can settle this issue, if hardware,it a tough
Call for early adaptor or may canon extend the warranty period
For those effected set after send it to rectify the issue.

That is an excellent point. I really had bad experience in this regard. Local service center simply cannot match the factory assembly precision.

Are these Koreans paid by Samsung? :) I know they really detest the Japanese, but this is getting out of hand... who shoots with the lens cap on???? Sigh...

Unless it is 1-1 exchange with brand new set(which will never happen...), there is no way I will send mine in for light leak service now. Just imagine the csc technician opening up your still relatively clean camera in a not so clean environment...then assemble back with unknown precision...don't want to end up with no light leak but a lot more dust and something misaligned. Plus it is not like the light leak actually affects situations of when you really use metering function.

Dear All,
I just got a reply from CSC about the light leak issue.
They cannot fix it for now and has escalated the issue to Canon HQ, Japan.
They will inform us all of the solution in due course. In the meantime, you may let them know your problem so they may inform you when they have a solution.
BTW, they didn't disassemble the "BABY" (nick of 5Diii given by one of you). :bsmilie:

PS: I took it down mainly for another issue (dead pixel) which has since been resolved by mapping. No disassembly.
Apparently according to the technician, quite a number of people brought their babies down last week just for the light leak issue.

They will inform us as in how?

If you've registered your 5D3, they will have your contact details. If not, have to rely on CS forums to get yourself updated lor.

I dun think they will be so kind to call or mail each user one buy one. It will be like if you think there is a problem, then bring it down if and when we do have a solution.
