I was thinking of a possible solution...If we go to a dark room and shoot bulb. Look at the sensor and press the LCD light button. Should be able to see the light leak? Stick a black tape over it?

I feel that the effort people go to just too replicate the issue...they should be better off just using the camera normally and taking great photos with it instead.

I feel that the problem does not affect you now does not mean that it will not affect you in future. I sure does not want to be in that situation when it affects my shoot and then i will go....aiks, why didnt i get it fixed.

If it affects you, go to manual mode. Problem solved. Don't use the auto-metering.

seriously this issue will only affect you mentally, cause you keep thinking of you bought a lemon.

in actual usage, the leak is insignificant compare to lights enter thru the lens when making exposure, and it does not affect the image quality, and how many of you will shoot in pitch dark and switch on the LCD panel at the same time?

please go back and see the test run by bro flipfreak.

if keep dwelling in this issue, instead of calling Canon service center, you will be calling 6389 2222 very soon.

I'm not worried about it affecting me because i doubt I'd ever start taking photos with my caps on..that's not why i bought the camera for...:)

When it ready for fix.just a epoxy fix the issue.upon the product approach.
End of line.a much better fix are available with a bracket clamp the

Bare the service charge ? May those user need to speak up.
Now those whose delay register of the warranty.may need to act first.

Hope firmware can settle this issue, if hardware,it a tough
Call for early adaptor or may canon extend the warranty period
For those effected set after send it to rectify the issue.

Phenomenon
In extremely dark environments, if the LCD panel illuminates, the displayed exposure value may change as a result of the AE sensor’s detection of light from the LCD panel.

If Canon is thinking the same with people taking photos with caps on....there is no need for them to acknowledged the problem and we can close this thread liao....

Mods, please lock up this thread. Thanks. END OF THIS THREAD.

they are making the announcement to pacify the owners and potential buyers of the camera. its a simple case of damn if u do and damn if you don't. don't think it takes a genius to figure that out.

don't worry abt it. when the fix is out, then determine whether you want to go for it or not.

Hope Canon not borrow idea from Appxx on the Iphone4 antenagate issue.
Just issue a free case, but upon claim from app.
it take ages to deliver, call for hotline. wait and wait till u sian and give up.
only time go by ppl will forget it and move on.
enjoy the cam as much as you can to capture moment and images.:)
