Canon EOS 550D.

"Hi-Five bor.
I bought the body to pair with my Tamron 28-75mm.

Movie moe is crazy with my Tokina 50-135mm. Shallow Depth of field can create new way of telling story."

hey,

may i ask what's the brand of the free hard drive that they are giving out together with the 550D at the IT show?

Hi everyone,

Apart from the discussion of the price war, can anyone share with us the 1st hand information about using the 550D? Sources from forums and reviews are good....but I still think personal experience will be better.

I am wondering if I should upgrade my 400D to the 550D.....hmmmm....

I bought the 550D yesterday. I bought the body, Tamron 17-50 and Canon 10-22. I'm absolutely delighted and have no regrets waiting for the 550D. A mini 7D is probably the best way to describe it for me. (;

If anyone needs or wants to to play with it, nicely of course, feel free to drop me a note and if I'm available, you're more than welcome to. But I personally love it.

Tried the camera last night and I find that live view focus is quite fast.

I notice those who buy not from IT show, didnt really specify what they actually gets, as i intend to get 550D too, can please indicate the following so Csers can compare apple to apple.

What price? (w or w/o GST)
Where?
Free gifts is it the same as in IT show.
2 8GB SD Card
Tripod
Lens workbook
320Gb Harddisk drive
Crumpler Bag

With 3 or more threads about the 550D, things are starting to get a little messy....

Your thread is adding to the mess........ NOW, counting yours, there are 7 threads on the 550D ...... so, please tell us.... what so special about your 550D thread vs the others ?

Hi all,

I am a newbie to SLR. Can I ask for usual portray taking (both for pix and video), which kit should I get? Kit 1 or 2?

Or for good portray lens, which one should I invest one?

Thanks all ya....

Andy

Andy,

You can go for Kit 2, the one with 18-135, and then buy the 50mm f1.8 for $89. That last one is a good and cheap portrait lens if you want to experiment first.

Well I did create the first "consolidated" thread first as per a suggestion from a fellow CSer. This thread was created 19 hours earlier than the other one if you had bothered to catch a glimpse of the time of posting. If you reckon that this is only adding the the mess, by all means, delete or lock it.

Please don't take this the wrong way, or take offense or take it personally. I don't want or need any more grief in my life than there already is.

No worries and yes please. I'm quite interested in the 550D and would wish to pick up on every morsel of news and information about it.

Cheers to you!

damn good.. is upgrading from 450 worth the hassle?.. need movie.. capability...

Managed to call mscolor...

Body $1120
Kit 1 $1290

All incl gst already. :D

Good price, I bought my body only for $1159 (including GST already) at South Asia Funan. It will cost me time and about $30 - 40 anyway to go to MS Color, so it's fine.

Standard freebies, but not interested in any of them, except the free SD card which is always useful for other purposes.

Now, I have to get used to the tiny little viewfinder
