I'm hoping for the retail price of the body to be around $1899 SGD. Then maybe could get at CP, MS at around $1699++.

But would wait for a few mths for user reviews.....

It show that Japan is selling 148K for the body only. With roughly estimate,it is going to be 1900+ SGD.Do you think it will be cheaper if it is selling in Singapore?
:)

Wait and see lor..... :bsmilie:

50D @ 15mp!than how about the old mk2 which falls @ 16mp n cost $16k when new!
is this 50d comparable inturns of image quality n large prints n higher iso,a $2000 50d surpress the 5d?
wow,the pixel is gapless.............
now what, going to 1 series is it time to letgo n buy the XXD?the highe cost of the 1 series seems not justifiable.
1d mk3 only 10mp n this 50d is 15mp........lets see what the further test will come out with........
R most of the 1 series user going to jump to the 50d platform?being cheaper n higherpixel count.
what is canon doing to make a semi dslr so high n yet the 1series fall behind...eg,the 1d mk3
5d?will they come out a better alternative for the 1 series to have a 15 mp full frame @ $4000k?
just my 2 cents....

because not all pros go for the highest pixel count? judging by your theory, we all should use 450D when 40D is out.

hi..wht i knw is the price of 50D in m'sia is selling at RM4650.
$
that gives 2022 SGD... typically for Sg to add about 20% => $2400

I think it should be the same price as 40D when it first came out in Singapore.

Quote from CanonRumours:

I wish DPR would hand the camera over to a semi decent photographer once in a while. Maybe used at a wedding, or birding (beyond ducks in a pond), or to a sporting event. How many pictures of flowers, grass and buildings do we have to look at? Lets see the cameras limits tested in real world applications.

You guys think so? At least Nikon bother to let professional photographers to test out their new products and give really nice images to boast their marketing segment. Check out the D700 microsite if you know what I mean.

First samples of EOS 50D is out at DPreview... pre-production samples...

Frankly, DPReview photographer doesn't impress me at all. From these test shots, there are some serious technical flaw in most of the photos that's not doing justice to the camera. Unless the preproduction camera is under-exposing or over-exposing like some of these photos are showing, which will be quite horrible to imagine.

Anyway, I will sit tight and wait at least 2-3 months after first shipment to let the earlier adopter draw their conclusion on the internet forums before making any move. So, either 50D or 5D2 or 7D, looks like I will get my new cam only in either Christmas or CNY.

Time to pick up a few more roll of film for my EOS 3

It is safe to read all the various threads here. Search for "maintenance" and you'll get plenty of ideas. Extended warranty is the same as normal warranty: betting if something goes down. It takes care about costs but doesn't say anything about chances.
Care to share the source of your information about "that canon has lotsa product defects these days"? Keep in mind that Canon has a huge variety of products...
