The 50D does look promising. Was looking to upgrade my 400D to a 40D, but the 50D does look so much better! Btw, just wondering whether the 40D price will drop again since the 50D is coming out?

1 Series will always keep the edge over midrange from the total package. The build quality, AF speed. Purely from image quality it's questionable though, just like when 5D was around, pict quality of 5D definitely higher then 1DII, but 1DII is still higher spec/price then 5D.
Personally, I'm not pro, and don't need all the 1 series bulk & toughness. I do want the AF though... With 50D, I start to have second thought on my itch for FF. Let's see how 50D turn out in real world, and how 5D replacement pricing/features. Purely from spec, 50D outgun 5D in all aspect at this stage, except FF.
Well, made in China isn't necessarily bad. I hear it makes your fireworks shots look great :bsmilie:

Digital canon has failed me. Lousy color when you shoot along with video light. Bla bla bla the white balance. With nikon the color soooo beautiful and i thremm away my canon 300d and 400d and start with nikon d40x and mama mia so nice i just bouth the 300d and have taken about 200 olls in film language and just cannot wait ti get the 700d. Ok, that's more like it. There have been superlatives used on the "new AF" on the 50D, and its croppability. I might buy one just for the Singapore GP
So, Canon Singapore wants to charge the 50D in the same price category as the Nikon D300 even though it is clearly lagging in several functional areas? Ooops... looks like no 50D for me.

From the marketing perspective of things, I would think the 50D be placed a little more expensive than the D90 and a bit cheaper than the D300.
If the expected price of the D90 is to be as suggested, then considering the D300 price now, I would think the street price at the shops to be about $1650-1850 at launch. With a $800-900 difference between the body price and 18-200 kit price.

I'm hoping for the retail price of the body to be around $1899 SGD. Then maybe could get at CP, MS at around $1699++.
But would wait for a few mths for user reviews..... :thumbsup:
