Today seems to be a quiet day for the thread... so far anyway.
You had nice pictures too.
Your shots are nice too!
Just came back from Ubin for the event shoot.
First of all, I totally worn out after the whole thing. Started using 2 cams to shoot then the rain started pouring then I decided to just use the 50D and 1 lens all the way. Haha!
And the 200 pax group shot was done in 5 mins.
This was learnt somewhere in the internet beforehand.
Thanks!!
So you ended up shooting with the Sigma or 70-200?
Are you allowed to release that big group shot? Am interested in seeing whether or not you can even identify faces with so many people in the shot.
I've got a question about using ND filters...
With normal exposure, let's say I meter to get 1/250. With a ND8 filter, would my effective shutter speed be 1/60 or 1/30? Do you start counting the 3-stop EV reduction from 1/250 or from 1/125?
Thanks!!

So, effective shutter speed with ND8 is only 1/60. Wah piang!! To get silky effect of waterfall in bright sunlight will need ND400 filter!?!?! Then, why is it people recommend ND4/ND8 filters to get those kind of shots?it is 3-stop from 1/250.
Here's one of the many shots of the huge group I took in 5 mins.

GMAN
Not easy to frame the shot when you are talking about numbers this huge.

Wow! How big are you gonna get that printed? To get a decent-sized view of most ppl's face, think you need at least 20R. No?

Luckily the final gather point is at this empty so-called basketball court with no hoops. Haha!
Of the 4 sides, this is the best. Before this they are actually facing forward then I told the organizer. I go behind the group and when you are done finish with your speech/annoucement, get them to turn around.
So now you know how I get the appropriate settings and done this huge shot in 5 mins.![]()
No money for UWA.
