Oh, i am giving comments la...lol.... both are nice. The BW one is quite solemn. the coloured version, has a toy like output which is nice. I prefer the coloured version. Though, it can be a little less dramatic. Good pictures by the way!

hey!

i am also thinking of getting the Tamron 17-50. Haha.. Got 2 got discount? :D

I thought of getting the Tamron 17-50mm. Should i. I've no money for 17-55mm, and i don't mind no IS.

Depends where you want to get it. I'll most likely get it from John 3:16. But i still have to save up. And wondering if i should get the 17-40mm instead?

Hmm.. Don't foresee myself upgrading to a FF soon. So use the lens for a few years first lor. :)

John3:16 will give discount? That time i asked CP they quoted me 650.

Mt. Fuji is hard to shoot. In general, the best time is to shoot at sunrise or sunset. But there's no guarantee the mountain won't be covered by clouds/mist that time. It may help also if you use a polarizer to reduce glare.

Shoudl be bro, but i'm contemplating on which to get. Canon 17-40mm or Tamron 17-50mm. There were some issues of the tamron having the front element wobbling after some usage. But it's got 3 years warranty which is good. Hmm. Seems to me Tamron is the wiser choice. Affordable with good pictures.

You using tripod for this shoot rite? If so, why bump up your ISO to 1600? The noise is evident at such a high ISO level. When taking night landscape shots with tripod, put your ISO to 100 or 200 to allow yourself to have a longer exposure time, thus you'll get more colours from the black sky and have a much less noisy shot.
No, I didn't bring my tripod out since it is only a few door steps outside my house. Just bare hands cup and stop breathing when shooting. Later then I went down to shoot public buses and do some panning.
ISO1600, to test the ISO. Cos it is hell to shoot ISO1600 with S5 IS.

Yes, the first picture is very nice. Dark weather portray sadness, darkness. Bright skies portray happiness and liveliness. Just the trend. lol

I am so epic. After spending a little cashing getting 18-55 non IS, now I need to save to get 50mm F1.8 as recommended by most people!! >.<

U were at the marina barracade right?
I find the fireworks not as good as the fireworks festival 2008.
But there is my shot:

S5 IS... sorry...not 450D

First 2 photos are very nice. I like the orange night lights. As for the rest, seems a little blur? Were you doing a handheld night shot? Good work though!

Hi GMAN,
Thanks for your compliments and comments.

I did use tripod for all these pictures, but not sure why the pictures still not clear... i have switched off the IS on the lens (like some threads were suggesting)... set to Fine mode, used RC-1... but still not clear lei...

I am using 450D with the kit lens 18-55...
ISO 100 AV 13
Long exposure noise reduction 0:Off
High ISO speed noise reduction 0:Off
Metering Mode: Evaluative Metering
Picture Style:Standard
Sharpness: 3

Could it be due to the Long exposure noise reduction and High ISO speed noise reduction?

Please advice? :dunno:

Mirror Lock?

Should on the long exp. Set ISO 100 for fireworks so do not need to on the high ISO reduction.
