Hi Gman,
Maybe different people different mind set? No offense, but for me if I would be going for my next trip of travel, I won't want to bring too many lens to keep changing. Would prefer just carry 1 lens and the camera and shoot. But thanks to you for making 2 good point making me to re-consider in purchasing 18-200mm, which is heavy and sub-par image as digital camera.
Yes, next step definitely would be 50mm F1.8. But 18-200mm I am kinda not too sure. May I know what is the different between 18-200mm and 55-250mm? I totally have no idea in reading and understand the numbering of lens
For L lenses, I don't think I would go for it. As I am not too sure I require such a high-end lens or maybe I wouldn't want to spend so much on lens! Who knows about future?:bsmilie:

You are right, would only decide in the future. Need to see if the L lens is worth buying a not
Shoot more and you will find out if you need it. But if you have a chance to test a L lens, try it.
I got my chance and I'm hooked. It's of a different class. Till date, I had used 16-35mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm. All of which are L lenses but they are not mine. :cry:

Guys, during the purchase of the 450D, would they(seller) include UV filter for me? Or they would charge me, how much would it be?

Usually if you go to reputable shops, filters are not included. A normal UV filter can go from $10 to $15 depending on the brand. Hoya, Tokina and Kenko are ok. B + W are the more expensive ones.
Hood is to be mounted at the front of the lens to prevent unwanted flares from external light sources. Hoods are to be purchase separately unless it's a 'L' lens you are purchasing.
Cleaning kit still have what other purpose than to clean your equipment?
Most DSLRs are more expensive than mobiles and handheld consoles. If they have screen protector on, what about DSLR? Answer is obvious.

Beside preventing from external light, does it actually could avoid lens facing sunlight directly? It is recommended to get the hood, how much does it cost then?
Well, as for the UV fliter, you need to pay for it. Depends on which type you get. Lousy ones, or good ones like Hoya and really good ones like B+W. The price range increases with the grade and size of the glass element on the filter.
I do respect your mindset, but we are trying over here not to have any member waste their money over a lens that does not justify its price. The 18-200mm, costs about a $1000, compared to the 55-250mm, which cost around $360-$400. The 55-250mm, can win the 18-200mm hats off in terms of picture quality. So that's something you have to consider. It's way lighter than a 18-200mm.
Trust me, half of the time, you'll won't be using anything above 100-150mm. A telephoto lens is useful when you have to take shots far away. Like you are on a boat, but you see a nice whale on the ocean, you can just walk up to the whale and take a photo of it, you have to use a telephoto lens.
Of course, if you have a 18-200mm, you can take it instantly, because you don't have to change lenses. Then again think of this. When you get into DSLR photography, you need to know the situation you are in. If you are looking across the ocean for some nice marine life shots, certainly you won't have thw 18-55mm kit lens attached on your camera. You would want to have something with a decent range that can capture the moment. This case the 55-250mm is suitable. Then when you are else where with friends, you can just take the 18-55mm kit lens. It's very good. Rather than to lug around a heavy 18-200mm lens that costs as much as an L lens.
Hope you undestand by what i mean. The members here wish not to see someone waste their money, but rather, use it wisely. Though, i'm not forcing you to go according to my option, you still have the choice to make your own decesion.

Nope. And never point your lens directly at the sun. There are many other filters other than UV for many purposes. Too much to list here for you.
Well, hood is another accessory. You want to buy then buy. Dun want, nobody can force you also. =)

Cleaning kit - pretty useless, because the free ones are lousy. A cleaning kit usually means to help you clean the sensor inside the camera, but you need a good cleaning solution to clean the sensor, otherwise you can spoil the sensor.
UV fliters - Useful to protect the first element glass of the lens. But you need to get good ones like Hoya or Tokina, those cheap ones with weird branding do work the purpose, but your image quality will be affected.
Lens hood - Usefull to prevent light streaks that cause flaring. These light streaks usually come from the side, so thats why the hood is useful. It's like wearing a cap on your head.
There are 3rd party ones which are cheap and original ones that can cost quite a bit. Purpose wise, both satisfy the function, just depends which you prefer.GMAN
