you can try to sell it away in the buy/sell section..
or give it to a close friend who's intending to get a DSLR.. so that there'll be a carrot dangling to make him buy a canon model.. :bsmilie:

Haha, cool man. I have quite a number of friends that wanna get 450D as well, mayb I shld ask them to get the body den I sell my lens to them.
Wide aperture? What does is affect the picture that we shoot. Still a newbie.
i was quite stunned to see the 17-55mm.. because the 18-55mm kit lens is compact.. small.. so i thought.. shorter 1mm.. shouldn't be much of a difference right?
got a shock when i opened the box.. intimidating lens! haha..
heavier.. but more stable i guess? love it!
Oh actually I know abt the aperture thing. Juz that I dunno how the 17-55mm aperture works. Thanks for the info. Great help.
Tried the 70-200 L f/2.8 with 40D and grip. Was like... Carrying weights..
Well after doing some study from the web, I was equally stunned when I saw the 18-55mm placed side by side to the 17-55mm. Althought I din get to see the physical item, but already got a shock.
the 17-55mm is the biggest EF-S lens till date and with the f/2.8 at all focal length, enough said![]()
Correct. Because you DOF, will be smaller. Hope i can get my first L next year. Either a 17-40, or a 24-105mm, considering the 17-55mm as well.If the 17-55mm has a f/2.8 at all focal length, am I still able to take picture with everything in focus. From what I know is smaller aperture the background of the item in focus will normally be in blur.

nope u can adjust the aperture but no lower than f/2.8 (ie f/2.8, f/3.5, f/4.6 f/16 ect all can but f/2.0 f/1.8 cannot)
Nope you can adjust the aperture, using your camera. At small apertures lik f2.8, you tend to have a small Depth Of Field range. Maybe you have 10 bears sitting side by side, and you focus at the 5th bear. The 5th bear will remain subjectively sharp, but the rest of the bears will be blurry. Say if you step up the aperture to f4, you'll have more bears in focus and sharp. So am I correct to say that I cannot manually adjust the aperture since the 17-55mm has a fixed f/2.8?
