haha yeah
anyway TZR250..

do consider the 17-55 f2.8 too

excellent for ur 450D

:bsmilie: You're spreading it too! Just that it is near half the cost of 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM.

When you're more good at it, perhaps you can take a look at Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. Rather pricey but nice lens for such purpose (provided that you have plenty of space to move around). ;)

Thank you for the recommendation! If we can't get good shots with dogs running then the camera does not serve it purpose! Will definitely consider it when we are more comfy with the camera! Thanks!!! :)

Btw why do we need USM? According to our nooblet brains USM means no shutter sound for close up macros (insects?) LOL!!! Sorry if we sounds ridiculous!!!

Hi Gurus! We bought a 450D purely for taking photos of our 2 dogs but we facing some problems when shooting them while they move or run!

All the photos will turn out very blurry. We tried "sports mode" and P/AV mode but still very blurry. As we are totally noobs *newbies*, can you guys give us some preliminary settings of the aperture/iso/auto focus? etc? We are using the 450D kit lens for outdoors.

Please use newbie terms as we are not very sure about the very "technical" lingos. ;) Thank you ya all in advance!!!

Hey. Congrats on your 450D.

Actually if you shoot in daylight with sufficient lighting, use of the kit lens 18-55 IS wide open is still manageable. Set to AI Servo and learn panning. It's a technique whereby you follow your subject. It's a bit difficult initially but a few practices will be good.

USM is only to silent the zoom of the lens and faster focus and not shutting off the shutter sound. ;)

Well, there are a lot of factors contributing to the so-called good shots. ;)

Like what RyanG has said, USM performs faster auto focus than its counterpart. There will still be shutter sound since there's no direct relation between USM and it.

That sounds right! lol pardon our noobness . . .

Actually our so call "good shots" are only clear and "visible" pictures for now!!! We are really very very new on photography :bsmilie:

May i ask, who is the "We" Haha!!! You'll need to do panning shots. Set to AI Servo mode, then aim and lock onto the subject and follow it. Use a fast shutter speed. Open up the aperture.

Try it out more and you'll see that coming soon. ;)

How do we "fixed" a shutter speed? It seems to be always auto adjust. We use P mode most of the time becos it is the first manual mode on the dial. ;p

The ISO is always set to max 1600 *we don't really use flash and not particular about noise*
