24-105mm f/4L and 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS on my buying list. :D

Wow. How much is that 100-400mm?

GMAN

$2.1K to $2.2K?

Need to call and ask. :)

Might even settle for 2nd hand units since its a significant savings that we're talking about. Of course with reasonable or good condition.

Haha...Yeah....Nice Zoom range. Haha!

Nice for zoo trips. :D

And perhaps birding with xxD bodies.
Haha...Seems, everyone is interested in the 24-105mm F4L. Hmm...Like you said, i could use the 18-55mm for landscape shots. Otherwise, it'll be pretty much be sleeping at home if i get the 17-55mm f2.8 Hmm....But i certainly dislike the hood of the 24-105mm lens. Haha. Low light photography will be of a concern. Maybe the flash could help?

Not too sure if the hood used for 24-105mm f/4L will affect the effectiveness of built-in flash or not. External flash will be of no issue.

For 17-40mm f/4L, built-in flash will be somewhat blocked by the hood though.

If you decide to go for 17-55mm, then sell off the 18-55mm since you won't be using it for sure.

The question here is how often do you need f/2.8 for your regular shoots? If your shoots are something which your kit lens can handle, why even bother to get f/2.8? Perhaps its all for the IQ, but other than that, you're better off saving it or spend it on 24-105mm f/4L.

Correct. I find that the 18-55mm landscaping is pretty alright for me. Interested in getting the 24-105mm. Use it for the time being. If i find landscaping still hard, i'll get the 10-22mm, when i go for my attachement. Haha. Attachment pays $400+ a month. 2 months saving can get me a 10-22mm. Haha!

:bsmilie: One easy way to see if its wide enough, use your kit lens as a test piece.

If you find that at 18mm (28.8mm after 1.6x) is still not wide enough for the landscape shot you wanted, then get 10-22mm. Otherwise zoom till 24mm and look at it again.

If at 24mm (38.4mm after 1.6x) works well for you, you know that 24-105mm f/4L is the one. ;)

Doesn't cost a single cent to do the above to determine what you actually need.

Yeah...Good advice. Going to do that this weekend. Well, 18mm is good enough for me. Oh boy. Time to start saving 1.6K. Haha!!!

:bsmilie: I see. But I'm more towards 2nd hand piece for that. After all, price difference can be $500 onwards. :)
