Thats because you've got a 17-55mm. Haha. 24-105 isn't wide enough for 450D. My sig also has that.

Yes. I agree that 24-105 is not wide enough on a 1.6x crop but it's an investment for FF upgrade later.

I might get the Tamron 17-50 instead of Canon 17-55 which is priced out of my budget. ;p

Might consider Tamron too, but 3rd party lenses can get problematic at times. Depends on your luck. Tried one of the user's 17-55mm on saturday during the collection. Awesome man. Big heavy gun. Bang Bang! Haha.

Possible options:

Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 + Hoya Filter + 430EXII

Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 + BW Filter + Nissin Speedlite 622

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L + BW Filter + Nissin Speedlite 622

Well, I doubt that you'll be using 24-105mm more often that you would with 17-50mm.

And yes, it is cheaper and in terms of quality wise, I would say its pretty good for its price tag.

I like the range of about 18-100mm. 55mm is restricting at times. But quite enough. It's only a couple of times needed to use my 55-250mm.


Worrying part is 24-105mm, the 24mm is too narrow for crop sensors. 24 X 1.6 = 38.4mm

u still have 18-55 for ur wide angle and 55-250 if u really need the zoom mah
as for the 18-100 range u mentioned, u will have the 24-105 to cover 90% of the range!

For the 24-105mm, I would use it as walkabout lens, definitely no problem with such range though.

If I'm presented with a choice of either Tamron 17-50mm or Canon EF-S 17-55mm, I would choose Tamron over Canon, primarily because of the price. Perhaps that's just me, but I had rather get the cheaper one that is able to deliver similar performance as its counterparts.
