Canon COMEX 2009 Price List and Freebies

Just some info on buying outside of COMEX:

I don't have need for another printer or tripod, so decided to look elsewhere. Did some homework on Friday before walking around Funan-Peninsular and ended up at Shaw Towers' TK.

500D + 18-55: 1240
Screen Protector: 5
UMC UV filter: 30

Free gifts are nothing fantastic, just a SDHC4 8GB card and a lense book which is currently out of stock (gotta make a return trip next week). Drove down to HarbourFront and collected my EOS crumpler. Remember to bring along official receipt and warranty card before Sep 16th if you're doing the same too

Id never buy cameras from the comex show, the freebies are pretty useless, considering how much extra you actually pay for them

last aug bought my 500d kit 2 at $1900, got my manfrotto 190xprob plus 486rc2 at $285 last thursday. total spent $2185.

extra $86 me get better equipment compare with the cheapo freebies offer from the COMputer EXpensive....

Really comex do have some gd deals..DSLR is definitely not one of it. and now with Bally..all the more :thumbsd:

I have gave up going there. why? yeah u save some money. but to squeeze thru the crowd, to hunt..it is a real pain. at SLS or funan i have the comfort and space to walk. oay a bit more but i can slowly see what i want and not get bump by ppl.

yeah LCD good deal..tell me abt it. all old models..i was shopping for 1 for my new house last time..all old model..new model..my neighbourhood anytime can sell cheaper. COMEX indeed is COMPUTER EXPENSIVE. not worth going to me anymore...free gifts? sometimes i have to think how to or where to store those useless ones. i rather they dun give me.haha but that's me. i went NATAS for my travel ticket...they ask me go here go there change this and that...i gave up. told my wife free luggage not reliable and i still have to think where to put in the storeroom...forget it man...

Heh... Tat's why I decided to buy it outside... Since i dun need the printer and if you look at the brochure for Canon Printers its also not being sold... means its like some old stock... so yeah... I would prefer other better deals... and I seriously think that the printer worth over 100+ so if i buy at COMEX 1399... 100 is for the printer and 1240 is for the Camera with Kit 1???

Anyway.. Bally people is so not customer friendly lah... I like ask them they also like not interested to serve me like tat... so wat for I get for them... Mustafa I guess would also be the same... Seriously of all the camera shops around why is it this 2 dealer??? -,-

Absolutely correct regardless of where you purchased your 500D, this is the binding T&C found here (scroll to bottom):

Promotion is valid for purchases made from 10 September to 13 September 2009. Last date of redemption is 16 September 2009.

Accompanied 2 friends yesterday who wanted to have their first dslr. Went to Cathay Photo first and was quoted S$1290 for the 500D without the freebie printer being offered in COMEX. If with printer, will be same price as COMEX. They ended up buying and getting the following in COMEX for S$2099.

Canon 500D with EF-S 18-200mm
16GB SDHC
EF Lens Workbook
Screen Protector
Tripod
Canon All-In-One Photo Printer (MP145, if I remember correctly)
Crumpler Bag (collected on the spot)

They also opted to buy the extended warranty at S$150 and 50mm f1.8 at S$50. In return, they got the novelty 5D Mk II thumbdrive (2gb). End of the day, each cost them S$2299.

What we did was split the transaction into multiple credit cards so as we get freebies being thrown in by CC companies. Got 2 electric griddles from OCBC and 2 in-ear earphones from Citibank.

I believe as a whole, that's a pretty good deal.

Saw from canon site that you need original Canon Singapore Pte Ltd's warranty card (customer's portion), voucher & dealer's tax invoice must be presented for redemption (printer etc..).

We bought our cam outside COMEX and was wondering what voucher Canon was referring to.. how does it look like is it from email or given by the shop itself? Tnx.

You will be given the voucher when you purchase the camera at Comex. When you buy outside of comex you won't get it. I think printer is the comex promotion not valid for outside purchase.

I just bought a 500D from COMEX and got to collect it from SLS since Bally Photos got no stock at the moment. Kinda regretted after reading all the posts.

The salesman told me i can get it from SLS as they have stocks over there. But when I'm doing the payment , my gf asked the other guy (cashier) when can i collect the camera, we were told that it'd be in a week time. This is ridiculous after knowing that i must do the warranty by 16 Sep for the crumpler bag, extended warranty promos (i didnt know at that point of time).

I am going to call them up tmr to make sure i get all my stuff.

just head down the shop. they close at 7 pm weekday. weekend close 6 pm.

I just got my 500D kit 1 from Canon through the privilege purchase program

Crumpler Bag (Registered at the place where I collect the other freebies, got bag on the spot)

The whole package cost $1111, excluding the meal treat I gave my friend for her old Canon A300 camera. Minus the freebies (I gauge them to be about $180 at retail price), I guess I saved about $100 compared to Comex. ^_^

Not sure if anyone still reads this treads..
I got my Canon 50D at one of the shop (not at COMEX).
Prices is $200 cheaper but less Tripod, BP-511, Lens Guide and the Golla Bag.
The 3x 4GB CF, User Guide and sling bag is from Canon, no matter where you buy.
If you register the warranty on-line by 16 Sept, you get the printer. no matter where you buy.
I just claimed my stuff from Canon. Just bring warranty card and receipt.
Print out On-line Warranty registration page to avoid waiting. If not they can do it there.
