Just to check, izzit possible to buy Canon DSLR from shop then head to Comex to do the extension of warranty and get the freebies and buy 50 f1.8 @ $50?

If you want to be hardcore in getting the 50mm for $55(with GST), then try this:

Wait outside Canon booth or gift collection and try to find someone who has purchased a DSLR but doesn't want/doesn't need/doesn't know of the 50mm promotion. Offer to buy it at $70 and pass the money to them.

I got mine at $65 earlier this year:)

Thanks for the above! I was just looking for a printer at this Comex and this helps a lot! But wondering which one to get... kindda stuck between:
MP558 (built-in card reader but same ink cartridge as iP4680)
MP198 (cheapest but less accurate color rendering?)
iP4680 (but I heard the ink cartridge is 9ml and runs out faster than the previous iP4500?)

Any advice?

BTW, the offers posted in this thread is not accurate for the DSLR. Please look at this:

The EOS 500D comes with 16GB SDHC, EF lens workbook, tripod, MP145 printer. If you register warranty online, you get the EOS Crumpler Bag (yup, the red one). And if you extend the warranty by 3 months, you get a EOS 5D mk2 thumbdrive and also get to buy the EF 50mm f1.8 for S$50.;)

To me, that's a great deal! I did not get anything when I registered my DSLR.... :(

I might get 500D, havent decided yet. I am planning to visit COMEX on Saturday.
I have 50mm so if you want to get 50mm from the purchase of this new camera... PM me.

Hey guys, just for ur info, the free gifts when u register online only applies when ur product is purchased at the Comex show. So do go down to the Comex show to check out the great deals.. looks really quite attractive to me.

i'm also planning to get 500D kit 1 at COMEX (sunday)... still confuse about the process of online warranty & extended warranty. or... can it be done at comex directly?... :dunno:

I did that when I bought my 400D more than a year ago. And it worked !!! Bought the cam in CP marina and then go to suntec.

audio house promotion ended?
is much more worth than comex show!

For 500D you do not get the MR145 printer. But if anyone do not want the Crumpler Bag and wants the printer pls contact me. I would like to change with you. Thanks

hi there,

just bought my Canon 500D lens kit 1.

btw for those who are buying at comex pls take note that you get the crumpler bag at comex and not after you register online at home.

you can register online at the redemption counter too, advisable to do so.

Anyway the counter staff "forget" to give me my crumpler bag but luckily i remember and went over to take it. The staff looks like a 16 year old kid, remember to check what they are suppose to give you and make sure everything is there before you make your way home

total cost is $1599(include extended warranty $150 + EF 50 f1.8 lens $50)

What i go for $1599
500D Body
Lens Kit 1
Tripod (with bag)
Lens Book
16GB SDHC (Mark 4) or you can request 2 x 8GB
Red Crumpler Canon EOS Bag
Canon Printer PIXMA MP145

Extended Warranty (Cost $150)
EF 50 f1.8 (Cost $50)
Free 2 GB EOS 5D Thumbdrive

and of course entry coupons for lucky draw.

on a side note, remember to participate in the lucky draw at level 6. Organizers shift it to level 6 to spread the crowd at ground floor. That means after redeeming your stuff, you have to make all the way back to level 6 for the lucky draw (in my case cos i bought the extended warranty at level 1 if not after you buy at level 4, before you go redemption counter at level 1...head to level 6 and then level 1 to redeem the stuff)

No problem cos i saw a few people walking away without the crumpler bag, not implying anything about the staff but just informing members here.

Oh ya newbie here, will check out my 500D in 7hrs time...still charging the batt. :)

Maybe that's why alot of people didn't take the bag but why not take it on the spot? Your receipt will be stamped "gifts redeemed" after you take the memory card, tripod, etc so not sure how the process of getting the crumpler bag will work if you dun collect it at comex.

EDIT: btw the brochure says "Online Warranty Promotion: Free EOS Crumpler Bag worth $110" I think what they meant is you register online at the redemption counter(which I did) cos they have netbooks there to register and not register at home but bucsy since u call the hotline, better get the CSO name and reference num just in case he/she smoke you out.

there is no PowerShot A2100 for sale. :-(

Ended up acquiring the SX120 IS instead...
