can't wait for it to come. i want to shoot around le hahas.

eh.. some junk broken film camera bought from sungei road and single digit pricing. LoL

hahas.. someone infront of me did the same.. but i think he did not do his research properly and sorta like argued with the CSO there that why must his "old" canon camera be taken from him...
he thought just bring over there to flash it to them will do. haha. A digital camera thou.

he traded for the S90 @ $595 :)

good to hear you have bought from the buy back program.

remember when collecting the camera, the CSO will ask you to check the items and sign, everything is wrap up, they will not ask you to test. so you need to request them to unwrap it and do a few test shots, inspect the camera and lens for dust and scratches, althought it is very unlikely it will happen. but buying something so expensive, who dont want to check right.

neither did i.. but i read alot of new comers went ahead to get it and train from there.

so i was thinking.. "why not i get myself one to learn more about it wouldn't it better?" :) humans are made to learn things every time we grow :) if i don't buy it, i will never learn. hahas.

nope.. quite tight on budget and besides am a noob, my parents ask me to get the cheaper 1 first and play around before deciding whether to upgrade it or not.

500D with 18-55m KIT1 thou - hahas. my very first DSLR - tested quite abit at the vivo's canon showroom - kinda amaze by the weight of it.. initially i went to play around with the 1 with 18-200mm.. my arms ache like hell.

but read it here.. if you have the funds, go get the KIT2 one :)

ya the price is out of my budget also. but 18-200 better price leh n it a 11X zoom......so i will take 18-200 instead of 18-55mm only 3x zoom. and the 18-200 cost $1299 so it more cost eff to buy one len no need to change.

btw rem to buy filter 1st, then when collect n put on to protect it.....

i mean 18-55mm $1299 and 18-200mm $1999 before the disc. as the len itself is already $1299 but 18-55mm think is only $369....
so should buy 18-200mm 1st if do need 18-200mm then sell away buy 18-55mm. u still earn.

The filter put attach on the len is to protect the len against knockage, dust, scratches and UV ray.

Wondering if I can trade in a film AF SLR for this and purchase a Canon lens with the rebates? And where do you make the purchase after trading in? Canon showroom?

Cannot get a Canon lens... only body or body +kit lens

ooo.. how much is the filter and where do i get it?

A lot of places will sell filters. (These screw onto the filter threads at the front of the lens - for those who are still unsure - there are drop-in ones too but if you're using those, I don't need to tell you what a filter is...). The better ones will cost more but will be worth it as they'll be clearer (won't degrade image) and are probably easier to put on and take off. The cheap ones will degrade your image and if it breaks or comes apart, will probably damage your front element. Google "lens filter" and you'll see lots to read up on. Happy shooting!

Almost forgot, you have to make sure you buy the right filter size. This should be marked somewhere on the lens - usually near the front. If it's not there, you can check the manufacturer's site for this info.

The 18-200 is 72mm and the 18-55 is 58mm.

Also check out the Mass Buy thread.

Okay, I better stop this with the filters or Admin will come after me...
