how much did you pay for your camera and what freebies does it come
with?

G11 promotional price is $899. after discount = $714.

get all freebies that came with current promo.

all camera under this buy back program they will tell you to wait for 2 weeks, but normally, you should recieve a sms from them to collect the set within 1 week.

dun be so sure now..

i've got a call from canon that it will be delayed instead.

guess.. it is due to the holidays these 2 weeks..

weets... can i check why a G11 and not a DSLR?

funny kind of question you got there.. but I try mine best to answer it..

becos after weighting the pros & cons, I find that G11 more suitable. G11 at least slightly more portable, that I can bring around with me most of the times. G11 is less heavy on my pockets. etc.. etc.. etc...

well.. I did consider the 500D before as well, but becos I'd be going for the kit2, it is slightly more expensive & out of my reach after factoring the additional accessories..

if you are looking for a cam, I'd suggest that you make a list of your requirements 1st, so that you know where you are.. since I can see that you are asking abt both the S90 & 500D.. which is very different piece of hardware..

yup, but i prefer something with substance... so still likely i will go for 500D, hopefully my decision is correct.

Hi, did anyone send in a perfectly working camera? I emailed Canon on the privi purchase programme. They said its only for faulty cameras and need to send in for evaluation.

No need to be faulty.

is the battery needed for e old cam?

no need

how much is canon's 500D tripod, drybox and cleaning kit cost?

does canon cameras comes with the neck strap for the camera?

For the Privilege purchase programme, the set you got is a new set, definitely comes with everything in the box, but no tripod, no dry box.....

drybox how much? i see those electric 1 so big.. waste space. i want something with 1 rack and cheap (if there is) thanks.

According to CSC's reply, there is no priveledge purchase unless your set is faulty beyond repair.....see below:

"We do not have any trade in promotion or buy back programme.

What we have is a privilege purchase programme for customer's faulty camera when send in for servicing and if it is not economical to repair.

Then we will propose to customer to purchase a new model at our privilege purchase price and we will take back the faulty camera.

We advise you to send in the camera to our Customer Service Centre for checking at:

No 1 HarbourFront Avenue
#04-01 Keppel Bay Tower
Singapore 098632
Tel: (65) 67998888
Operating Hours: Mon to Fri, 9.30am to 7pm
Closed on Sat, Sun & Public Holiday

We do not reveal the privilege purchase price only upon customer send in the faulty camera to our Customer Service Centre.

Thank you for your understanding and patience."

Canon's Official stance will always be that they will ONLY offer a new model at a discount after they have ascertained the current one to be beyond economical repair.

Service Centre is part of Canon Singapore which is also distributing cameras in Singapore. By selling cameras at a discount easily to the consumers in Singapore is, over the long run, going to upset their agents who is never able to sell at Canon's PPP prices.

Hence they are officially not going to tell you "any Canon branded camera will do and just bring in."

Officially...

Thanks for your quote of Canon's reply here.
If you have patiently read through all the previous post, you will be able to confirm that - any Canon camera in any condition will be accepted

Check other accessories forum, has been discussed a lot there - conclusion is better to get a dry cabinet.

Wondering if I can trade in a film AF SLR for this and purchase a Canon lens with the rebates? And where do you make the purchase after trading in? Canon showroom?

I just paid 714 for my G11 3 weeks ago after trading in my Ixus V2. AND my Ixus V2 is in WORKING condition though the service center staff didnt even bother to check. She just took the camera and returned my memory card, pouch and battery.

For those who want to enjoy this benefit, just go ahead and buy. Please DO NOT ask for the world. This is a benefit that a lot of us are hoping to continue to enjoy in the future.

Instead of asking why there is lesser free gifts or why certain camera is not included in the offer or why the warranty starts on this date and not that, ask yourself why a 6 - 7 year old paper-weight camera is still worth 150+.

yes, canon service centre. As long as your camera is from Canon, it doesn't really matter if its

a. working condition
b. damaged
c. ugly
d. fill with scratches.
e. battery or not, doesn't matter save your bucks and get one without

just bring it to Canon Service Centre @ Keppel Tower level 4.

take a number, once called bring your phone over and say this "for the privilege thingy"

the CSO will know what to do. :)

think it will be better yah? haha

actually it bugs me alittle.. the crowd @ canon svc centre seems quite a bit.. even when its @ 2-4pm or so. weird.. the canon durability that weak? My old canon digital cam seems to not have any issues yet for the time being...after more than a year of usage already.

neither did i.. but i read alot of new comers went ahead to get it and train from there.

so i was thinking.. "why not i get myself one to learn more about it wouldn't it better?" :) humans are made to learn things every time we grow :) if i don't buy it, i will never learn. hahas.

nope.. quite tight on budget and besides am a noob, my parents ask me to get the cheaper 1 first and play around before deciding whether to upgrade it or not.

500D with 18-55m KIT1 thou - hahas. my very first DSLR - tested quite abit at the vivo's canon showroom - kinda amaze by the weight of it.. initially i went to play around with the 1 with 18-200mm.. my arms ache like hell.

but for what i have read it here.. if you have the funds, go get the KIT2 one :)
