Canon buy back program

Previously asked for trade in of old D30 (the old 3mp one) to 5D (Mk I). They quoted $3k, down from $3.6k RRP (!)
But subsequently no more such "deals", they don't have trade in for the 5 and 1-series anymore.

No more? I was just thinking of selling my 400D for 5D2.

The last time I asked it seemed the discount was the same whether you were giving a PnS or DSLR.

So it really only makes sense if your camera is not working and the repair cost is high.

If the camera is damaged like lens cannot retract back, is the trade in still available?

I got one EOS 88 SLR laying around, can trade in for any acessories?

wow this is good news! i have an old canon S50 but the selection button dropped off, so i can only take photo without changing any setting... haha. it's now my nephew's introductory toy to photography...

hope this arrangement stays for a while till the time i decide to buy a new camera. Wonder if it ties in with the special packages during PC/IT show/COMEX/SITEX since they generally sell at RRP during the fairs with more freebies...

This "privilege purchase" program does include the freebies offered by Canon's promotion (can view on their website). Just got a Ixus990IS and I was entitled the freebies.

As for the "show" offers, I believe the freebies offered are from the show retailer themselves (normally collect on the spot). Some even gives more items as compared to Canon (which you have to collect from Harbourfront instead). Correct me if I am wrong.

my gf was quoted 21% off the IXUS 100 IS..... prob the other models as well. coz her camera repair will cost S$190++ so rather get new one which is cheaper?

got trade in for 10D to 50D?

Just an update for you guys.

The trade-in discount for PnS and entry range DSLRs, at least, are the same.

I am trading in a Powershot A70 and was quoted $373 for IXUS 100 and $1167 for 500D Kit 1.

Go do the math.

Those who have a old Canon PnS lying around and thinking of a DSLR, mai tu liao!

time to psycho my gf upgrade from Canon E1 to a big black box ;)

hope someone could advise me here...

does canon or any camera retailers here in sg have a buy back proram for dslr's? they give you a discount on new camera purchases when you sell back or trade in your old camera?

thanks!

I believe Fuji does that on special promotion.
But I suggest that you just sell your old cam at the BnS section and use the money as top-up on your new purchase.

Canon E1 is the new one right? release November last year. Still quite new to be traded-in.

Is it possible to trade in Multiple number of PnS for another cam. Like 3 spoilt PnS then bigger discount? or is it limited to 1 only?
