at this crop size still not sharp then big issue liao. how bout posting a 100% crop?

actually other people's opinion is not important. If you feel that it is sharp and good....then it is good enough.;)

thanks for the advice :). I guess I'll just be patient with the camera :)

Compared with the links photo by naturephoto and faineant, your picture do look like a bit blur, but yours in low res leh, so cannot compare lah....

But i'm sure 7D is a good camera lah, i envy you :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

what do you think?

look like mine too... any comment?

I think it is ok. but compared to other photos taken by my 500D, it is really not sharp enough. hhaha.

I cannot expect much from 120$ lens (already giving better result than my last Sigma 30 f1.4). If i spend money on better lens then maybe i will be able to give u better comparison.

Would you mind to share what was your f/stop, iso, shutter speed setting?

What a cute baby ;);)

Adorable child:)

Anyway I believe why the 7D have a tendency to be soft is due to the optical low pass filter(blur filter). Apparently it is reduces the aliasing effects(moire, jagged lines, etc) and in the case of the 7D it is very strong.

Also to compare to a 500d or any other camera, you need to down res the photo using a good software(so that aliasing is not introduced in post) to the resolution of the respective camera(15mp for the 500d and 50d, 12mp for 450d, etc)

The 7D has one of the highest pixel density in any APS-C camera. It could be stressing the optics. The 7D has a pixel density of 5.4mp/cm2 and the 5D II has a pixel density of only 2.4mp/cm2. So the optics would have to resolve a lot more details for the 7D compared to the 5D II. Furthermore its not really a fair comparison to compare a full frame sensor(8.64cm2) to a APS-C sensor(3.29cm2).

Agree. Very adorable child

BTW. Can you try taking the same pic in Auto AF. Would like to know if it is just as sharp ?

Thanks.

Nope.. I just want to know if the Auto AF is just as sharp. Presume the photo was taken with a spot AF.

AF = Auto Focus
Auto AF = Auto Auto Focus ???
