Canon 7D Mk II - Specifications (90%)

Only $100 more than the launch price of the original 7D at US$1699.

the video sounds promising, but iam not sure if I should trust the video or the price?

I love how "battery is backward compatible" is a key feature of the camera :bsmilie:

Anyway, I wonder why they took so long to put a simple intervalometer into the camera. It's just software, no? Magic Lantern managed already implemented an advanced intervalometer (can ramp exposure, ramp interval etc.) into all the Canon DSLRs. Nikon DSLRs have had intervalometers for quite long already

$US1799. Not bad for a camera with these features.

oops, missed out the price bit :bsmilie:

But sure looks reasonable for a body with such specs.... But now is to wait for the sensor review.... With so much stuffs packed in it. I hope they don't dumb down the sensor

The "new" sensor is still the "unresolved centrepiece" of this new camera. Here are quotes from those who have seen and handled the camera thus far:

From Canon:
"a newly designed sensor from the ground up"...

From B&H:
"not the same sensor found in the Canon 70D"...

From Scott Kelby:
"the new sensor produces the best images I've seen yet in an APS-C camera"...

November 17th...damn...thought i may get it from B&H next month when i am there to try at some migratory birds.

Thus far, all "biased" in a certain way :bsmilie:

Really got to wait patiently for more reviews to popup after it's sold. (kenna smoked more than twice liao... wait for smoke to clear up)

From the ground up... hmmm... may I know the link to this quote?

I heard it in the Digital Camera World video (above) between 1:20 to 1:26 minutes. I'm not sure that I've read it elsewhere but if I find it, I'll post it here.

No doubt... its far too early to discern a definitive assessment on the sensor technology in the Canon 7D Mk II. However, the early reviews are positive which is a good thing.

Try reserving with your regular shop...they should be taking orders but depending on your queue number and stock availability.

I dud not see iso reading on the bridal gown shoot...did anyone notice it? Picture looks clean but...

Imo expect something close to the 70D sensor...

Canon being Canon... :(

As I've mentioned before the "new" sensor technology in the Canon 7D Mk II is still the "unresolved centrepiece" of this new camera. This quote is copied directly from the Canon USA website:

"With this new sensor, not only does the camera have a finer level of accuracy, but when combined with iTR AF – which offers a new processing algorithm to detect faces and colors
– the EOS 7D Mark II can track subjects with a significantly greater level of success. The RGB+IR sensor even enables infrared-light detection and a flicker detection system that compensates for flickering light sources, taking shots only at peak light volume."

Canon USA - New Sensor Technology

It may be all marketing hype and we will never know about the true "nature" of the new sensor technology until hands-on testing is completed. I have a suspicion that the "DR" issue inherent with the latest iterations of Canon's sensors, remains largely unresolved. Of course that is speculation on my part and is subject to image testing. Regardless, the new sensor appears to have improved focus accuracy and low light capabilities.

Over-all, I remain optimistic and somewhat reassured and encouraged by the early positive reviews of the Canon 7D Mk II.
