Canon 7D Mark II - Specifications

i think the price should exceed 6D.
and yes Pro-body should strictly reserved for 1 Series only.

If that really happens especially if only within a couple of hundred bucks, I'm guessing there will be a huge "what is more important to u" debate (i.e. ff sensor of 6D vs other better specs of 7D2 with aps-c sensor).

Fundamentally, I agree with this too. The 6D was never touted as a pro-level body. It is an entry level full frame camera and a very good one at that.

However, the 7D represents the top of the crop bodies. I believe that Canon is trying to position as a high-end semi-pro body akin to the 5D3. Therefore I think that the pricing will be higher than the 6D and probably close or slightly exceeding the $3,000 mark. The launch price of the 7D classic was $2,700 therefore, a price at around $3,000 give or take... seems to be reasonable to me.

I personally feels that 7DmkII will still be priced lower than what we are seeing in 6D. the mkII will be like a 7D classic to a 5DmkII, whereby it had more features, etc as compared to the mkII but still sell at a lower price range of 5DmkII.

exactly my sentiments.

i would say a photographer has to know what they really need in a camera.
FF and crop are totally different camera for different needs IMO.
i believe the features in 7D2 like more AF points, faster AF,higher FPS is definitely not comparable to 6D directly.
Both of these cameras are totally different. probably 6D is closer to XXD series.ie: 70D matching 6D,how does it sounds like?
and i believe 7D series is closer to the 5D series, but still both are not replaceable with each other.
when 7D was launched, many photographers felt that having the 7D and 5D2 makes a perfect combo.
i guess it will hold the same for 7D2 and 5D3.

Yum yum combo..

7d2 with most of the performances n features of 1series (except body) and price under 6d or 7d2 with minor upgrade and price under 6d, wonder which will be more likely, anyone?

For Canon to release the 70D before the 7D2 it means that Canon is very confident of releasing a markedly superior camera. Canon will still have to price it very competitively because it is still crop and it will have to beat 70D, D7100 and D400 in price vs performance.

lets hope, it will be under under 6d price ;p

Looks like the debate has already started :)

Anyway I agree with u but sometimes u need both the faster fps, more af pts etc while also wanting benefits of ff sensor but only got budget to buy either one of these cams. Like myself, I shoot company events where some are sports where i want high fps and fast af while some events are in low light (eg. d&d) where ff helps.

Anyway if it were me I think I'd prob get 7d2 if its not more than $300 above 6d but most likely I will just get 70D :)

iam not sure how fast is fast to u.
if 6FPS is enough, your answer is 5D3.
if it is not, your answer is 1Dx.
if you are on budget, then u really need to know what is your main needs.

No budget for 5d3. As I said prob get 70D and combine with a 17-55/2.8 to make up for some low light capability.

Assuming the 7D2 with the AF capabilites of the 5D3 at the SGD 3k mark...I'm sold.

Yes, at that price point I think it would be a big seller with much success. It would be good back-up camera for the 5D3 with its 1.6 crop factor.

Hopefully it will come with the new dual-pixel AF and Digic 6. Fingers crossed.

Hmmm.... Canon USA has called a Press Event on August 21, 2013.

Could this be the day that the 7D Mark II will be announced?

Don't make me start drooling..I only know 2014 it will come out

This wish will not come true..

Actually why not? The m43 and X-Trans (Fuji's APS-C) are already capable of clean ISO 3200 despite their smaller physical size.

If Canon wants to maximise profits, what they need to do is to create a "pro-grade" (re: Approaching 1D Series) APS-C camera such that users would not hesitate to own both a FF and APS-C systems...and not be handicapped by using either. Currently the Canon APS-C range (even the 7D) is handicapped to the extent that its being looked upon as a poor man's alternative rather than a real substitute.

Well, it seems that Canon will want to reserve the BEST features on its premium FF like 1D & 5D series.. while trimming down some specs on its 6D & 7D (offered to those segments of people who wants a more budgeted "pro/semi-pro" series.

I suppose they will bring in the dual pixels AF (and soon on all across the FF as well) for the 7D2 and definitely increase the MP & AF points by a big margin. But however I do not forsee them bringing in the 61pts system into 7D2 for the moment (even though I will be thrill if they did that!) ...

But now seeing Nikon is bringing up its semi-pro range to good features and Sony's FF are giving Canon a fight! .... seriously if they still wanna hold back on giving out features, they will end losing bigger share. Probably except those sports/action pro protographers who will remain absolutely loyal to Canon bcos their investment is already there!

Another point I will really hope to see in Canon improving is the dynamic range... currently 11 stops for 5D3 is pretty low compare to Nikon/Sony 14 stops! DR is important and as a 5D3 owner, the really only "complain" is this area; otherwise I must say its a SUPERB camera!.... let's see how

One thing for sure, many "blood" (money) will be spilled when new products come through!! ....
