The ISO noise is VERY apparent at such a low ISO. What gives? I thought that 60D/550D/7D sensor should be relatively noise free even at 6400.

maybe it could be because the NR was switched to "off" i think

he said the picture is cropped.
what is the definition of your noise-free?

7d ISO3200 is comparable to 5d mk1.

hi

for the $2170 from TK, the price is the same regardless if we use credit card or cash?!

Latest quote, inclusive of GST, I got from:

- TCW S$2150/- (Japan with shop warranty 1 year)
- TK Foto S$2170/- (Local)
- John 3:16 S$2250/- (they indicate no grey sets)

I am heading down to TK soon since they allow partial cash payment and partial credit installament.

:)

Even without NR it shouldnt be so noisy. I think its based on other settings. Can any 7D shooter confirm?
this is it's EXIF according to my EXIF view app

the last part on color encoding seems rather intriguing

For bank installment, TK charges 4% interest for bank admin. Example, you buy the 7D @ S$2170/-, you paid up S$1170/- cash and the remaining S$1000/- you intend to pay by bank installment. 4% interest plus the remaining is S$1000 = S$1040/- you will pay by installment.

Then this S$1040/- you will in turn divide it by X mths to pay the installment. Even if you plus the extra S$40/-, it is still cheap compared to other competative shops around Peninsula.

Bought mine from TK @ 2170$ (with some goodies).

This is becos I brightened the image vide picasa too much thereby making it obvious. That said, I could have put it thru noise reduction and pp to beautify the pics like most forumners do but chose not to....:)

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Does this mean that if we are jus using credit card to pay, but not using instalment plan, the price will b 2170? If it is then it shd b the lowest price. Anyway, seems like there is no stock of the 7D in most places. Heard all gave to the sitex next week.

Is there installment plan at SITEX? I plan to get the body only. Hopefully comes with extra goodies too.

heard that the deals at sitex are usually not much better off than from the outside shops??

Just got my 7D with grip, reminds me of my old 5D which I sold to raise fund for my wedding :)

To answer your enquiry, if you plan to use credit card it is S$2170 plus 4% interest for instalment plan. this is however only for DBS credit card holders and one more bank which I forgotten. so in the end, I paid in cash.

Just came back from Gentings with my 7D... Will be posting photos soon :)

brought 7D to theme park? ;)

Yup manz... Brought my 7D into to Fong Fei Fei's 2010 concert :) My 70-200mm f2.8L becomes a wide angle lens when I was taking from the upper stand. My bro bought the tickets thus I bought it there to try out.

Greetings to all readers,

Bought an EOS 7D body to act as a second body for my EOS 1Dmk2, this 7D features the new and improved functions for a cropped body.

First & foremost, the body itself is well built, fits well on my hands, reminds me of a 5D body which I had a few months ago. Although it is a cropped body, but it does not feel like a 1.6x. Oh manz, I thought it should have been a 1.3x for serious & semi-pro photographers. The pop-out flash area, it does not have the impression that a pop-out flash is there. Its well-designed ergonomics have covered the pop-out flash parts and when you touch it, there seems to be no lines felt between the flash and its main body!

Next, like all cropped bodies, the 7D is proned to noise as well, but performs better. All images, if well exposed, will have lesser noise. Picture are also vibrant and rich. Most of all, there is a better improved 'Live View' function which features auto focus even when live view is on. This a tremendous improvements over the 50D live view function. The 7D's live view is almost exactly to the picture taken. Great for taking landscape is that there is built in electronic lever to ensure the horizon is straight.

Auto focus speed is fast, if not quick. I have tried mine in an indoor theme park in Gentings Highlands, when indoor, it has fast AF and tracking speed. Have not tried darker areas but I seldom shoot in lowlight events. Its AF points, is selectable when you manually adjusted in the menu options.

A 100% viewfinder is introduced into this body, which is a major boost for small-eyed photographer like me. Also which I like to mention is that the grid can be added to the viewfinder for better compsition. Its CF compartment door is different from other cropped bodies and 5D series, It is more rugged but I think Canon can improve more. It also has an 'Integrated Speedlite Transmitter' which I have no time to try, but I think I am more to an event / studio photographer than strobist. I can say this transmitter is great for strobist. There is also a "Studio Version" called the 7D SV, for studio usage but I dont think in Singapore it is available.

We will go to the top LCD panel next. It has a new 4-bar battery indicator to show the level of battery remaining. Beware, some 3 party batteries might not have the battery indicator shown on the 7D, but newer third parties have this problem remedied. But a piece of good advice, never use third parties batteries. Even if you should, buy from a trusted shop. If not, use original.

Startup time is around 0.1sec, and almost instananeously can shoot right away after system wake up. Currently exploring how to use the video function... To sum things up, the 7D is a ''truely different class'' to other cropped bodies.

Regards :)
