Canon 6D to 5Dmk2, upgrade or downgrade?

Er... TS... sorry to be a wet blanket person. But if that shop is so dishonest in many thing... did you check the serial number on the 6D that you gotten back from the shop. Was it your old 6D or was it another one that was actually there already? You might not be getting back your own 6D.

Hi bro, definitely not wet blanket. Very good point indeed. Yes. I did check the serial number of the unit. If they still dare to pull such stunt at this point of time, I really will make scene.

For the bros who wants to know the shop name, I think I wont expose them right now because I think they are trying to make a living. When I went back we argued and he ask me did anyone force you to buy the camera? Ok true, so its my fault for being too trusting and not doing my due diligence. Maybe I really look like a carrot walking into the shop. So its my fault for being a carrot.

All I can say is just be very careful. They buy and sell stuff, at the end of the day they gonna off load their **** to someone. They more nice, polite, friendly, helpful they are, the more you gotta be cautious. The more they try to sell you something, the more you dont buy. Good things no need to push, people will hunt for it and pay good money for it. They got so many kakis who patronize them for so many years, if got good deal you probably wont be the one to get it, unless you are their kaki then thats a different story.

"Pro cam use cf card"
Not wonder 5Dmk3 is classified into "semi-pro" .. it has cf (pro) & sd (not pro) card slot.

Most pro prefer to use certain model mainly be due to functions, button layout (for quicker setting change).
If not mistaken 6D has no or limited custom function on mode dial?
Camera like 5dmk3, 7D has 3 custom mode.
Most "pro cam" has more custom mode (c1, c2, etc), where user can preset few setting before hand for quicker change.
Almost any camera can do pro work. Just certain camera model are design in a way is easier (or better) to use in some situation.

The older 1 series camera uses both CF and SD card.

I absolutely love being able to use both CF and SD card.. Haha maybe TS can get an old 1D body to try try :))

I would if I could, but I cant so I shan't. LOL. All in this deal I lost abt 500 bucks. Bought a CF card at 128, paid 100 to buy back cam, bought 2 L lenses probably over priced and sold my 24 105 f4L at 300 to them. Better make some money first before I throw away more money. But yeah, Im reminded lenses hold more value than body. Use a 50d also can produce stunning pictures.

Bro, much as they are trying to make a living, I'm sure your $500 didnt come easy too. LOL the shop really sounds too much.

You are right. Now that you say, I get upset thinking how much people they try to con. Anyway, just beware of those photographic centres that offers free consultation/checking. Theres not only one in the vicinity. Thats all Im saying.

My advise. Don't think about it anymore. No point getting upset. Just enjoy your two lenses and the 6D and make fabulous pictures ;)

Be cool.

Thanks guys. Nice to meet you all. Here's a pic I took today after skipping school. LOL.

Hi guys,

recently I went to Peninsula wanted to clean my lens, went to a shop spoke to them and they refused to clean my lens as there was no need for any cleaning. I mean, given that someone who seem so green walk in to your shop, knows nkthing much, offering you $200 to clean your lens... any "Photographic Centre" would have jump at the chance to scam some money, since you walk in yourself. So I found them to be quite honest and spoke to them a little... and I found out that the "Photographic Centre" that I got into trouble with has a nickname known as the blackmarket. The brothers... i mean... owners seem to have a reputation for this kinda business. So beware. I think its only fair to take back my word about Peninsula as I've come across someone who didnt jump at my money at least. Its these black brothers sheep thats ruining the reputation.

so all the bros out there... beware.

If there are no major problems (like fungus), there is no need to clean a lens. dust is very normal and will not affect your pictures.

Please be clearer in what you write. There is actually a store called Blackmarket Camera. So better be clearer in what you write.

And no, not every "Photographic Center" would jump at the chance to clean your lens. Lens cleaning is not an easy job, and sometimes can be very troublesome. Everytime you open up or disassemble a lens, you are taking a risk. Camera repair shops knows this and will avoid opening up a lens if they can.

There are good honest and very reputable shops in Peninsula and Sim Lim (eg. Cathay Photo and Orient Photo) and I am sure there are others, but I am quite limited in my knowledge to all these shops. My advise to TS or anyone else, do your homework, do your homework and do your homework before jumping into any deals. As to cleaning of lenses, if it was just the exterior of the lens where you yourself could clean easily, there is no need to bring to shop, if it was the inner optic or the other surface of the front element, rear element etc that required cleaning (for whatever reason) it is not an easy job like what Daredevil had mentioned.

Dismantling (even semi) a lens, would and might cause misalignment of the lens and might throw off your calibration and you would need to calibrate your lens again, so... for any shops out there, they will not risk this. Even the dishonest shops, because they know someone who come to them with a lens, have them cleaned would also easily found out that their lens is no longer as sharp as before (even the green ones), so this does not translate to a shop being honest or not.
