Hi,
I heard the very same thing on DPReview! Lenses that were back or front focused on previous Canon models are now working perfectly on the 60D. This makes the need for micro adjust unnecessary!

In fact by now, it would have been normal to hear of focusing issues on this new model. But it hasn't happened with the 60D.

I wonder what Canon did to achieve this? If they have incorporated new technology or improved their QA, it is a step in the right direction!
In the past, I was always wondering why there is back and front focus issue unless Canon does not use a close-loop control for focusing... may be Canon finally get the focusing algorithm right or they reduce the focusing tolerance allow in the focusing algorithm??

Anyway, it's a good news if this is true and will sure consider to get the 60D at year end. :)

Have a nice day.

Actually there is something which I feel a bit disappointed with the 60D, its the LiveView Quick Focusing because it is not really instant as compare to shooting through the viewfinder mode. There is a delay to focus with LiveView.....was expecting the same speed. Anyway I think I will only shoot LiveView mode occassionally....

I still  my 60D. No camera is perfect....

Actually, focusing through live view will always be slow no matter which camera you use. When in live view mode, the camera switches to 'contrast detect' focusing which is inherently slower but provides near perfect focusing.

Hopefully some day this function can be improved.....I believe it can be done!!! When it is perfected,it is time to BBB......hahaha

Its already improved - it's called the Sony A55 & A33

but the mirror in front of the sensor reduces light by 30%, not sure about how this will affect IQ

reduce light would means u will need a higher ISO than needed... then IQ will definitely be affected...

Which camera are you referring to that light is being reduced by 30%?... The Sony A55 and A33 or the Canon 60D?

The Sony... I assume is both cameras... they are using SLT technology, so the mirror don't flip up... Hence, the light have to pass through the mirror to the sensor, which results in 30% less light received...

As far as I know Sony ISO performance isn't very good.... +30% less light going to the sensor makes it even worse... just my humble opinion. :)

But then... A55 got gold award from dpreivew... maybe there are some good thingy abt A55 which I dunno...

Actually the ISO performance is not bad! However ghosting in certain shooting conditions and 6-9min video when SteadyShot is activated is the only drawback! But I guess sony will work around it soon.:)

anyone know which is the battery grip for 60D?? what is the code name?

DPP software has been recently updated to version 3.9.2. This is the free software that came with your EOS camera. Please note that if you do not have this software already installed on your machine, the update will not work. Also, if you use EOS Utility (for remote shooting or other), this software is also updated to version 2.9.0.

The updates are not yet available on the Canon Singapore site but you can download both from the European site using the following link:

Is the BG-E9 the same one used for the Canon 7D and/or the Canon 5D classic?

No, the battery grips for EOS 7D and EOS 5D are BG-E7 and BG-E4 respectively.

Thanks for the information. :) While I while still living in Singapore in August, I saw the price of the BG-E7 at Challenger for about S$250! The price in Canada is a whopping C$370!!!! That is about S$480!!!!! Almost twice the price!

Can you feel my frustration and regret? :mad2:
