5D3 compare to 1D4:
- 5D3 wins in everything except weather-seal + battery life, assuming AF on 5D3 is as advanced as 1DX

5D3 compare to 5D2:
- nothing to compare, wins over everything except the price

5D3 compare to 1DX:
- loses to AF (yet to be determined), built, weather-sealing and battery life

I guess this has got to do with increasing consumer spending power. People now are more affluent and most are looking at getting better products. See how Louis Vuitton have lost it's prestige over the past few years and you will know what I mean. And with the success of it's predecessor, it is natural that this new cam gets lots of additional attention, even though not all will buy eventually.

getting the attention and interest is winning half of the battle already, the other half will be the physical cam itself, it has to prove that it is that freaking good to justify it's price.

They will probably enjoy the new toy while you hide under the bed wondering day and night whether to sell yours or not

yes of course. if you had the money, you can do whatever you want.
but in proportion, how many rich people are there compared to those who doesn't have the luxury to get the latest gear whenever one is released?
well, I don't think we worry for them at all, it's just comments in the fun spirit and while waiting for the official release

This is just announcement, wait till they hit the stores. Let other people pay the premium to get it first, iron out the initial bugs and have the price and dust settled first before jumping in. Let us consider in what areas does it open up new windows/doors for you? I think cameras have reach a point where it does not make much of a difference now to the picture for 90% of what we normally shoot. I doubt my client will give me more business because I have the latest camera.

What is wrong with the current 5Dmk2???? Do you intend to use 5D3 for sports? Personally I find the 1.3crop a nice sweet spot. Will missed it greatly should canon abandon this crop factor totally. 1D4 might be a classic piece of camera history eventually, like the original 1D.

Need auto-iso that works like the newer cameras (60D, 600D etc); opens the full frame door for me. Full frame: only because I want the shallow depth of field.
