According to the website...

The X for Canon means several things. First and most important, the tenth generation of EOS cameras. Canon wants to celebrate the tenth generation of EOS brand with the X in its most important models.

So...
- "D" for Digital
- "X" for 10th Generation
- "Z" for the last generation...

hahaha....

That would be the "Y Factor". ;)

Which means the next series would be "Y", cos it is after X and before Z :bsmilie:

The name is expected....

1. 1Dx
2. G1x
3. 5Dx ??
4. 7Dx ??

Can't wait to upgrade! will be fun....
:p

Only those flagship cams of canon will be named with x. Like 1d and 5d, I don't think 7d will get the x. Besides, some rumors say 7d will nt get a upgrade. The 70d will take over 7d2's place...

Yes, I heard that the 7D may not get extended. How sad... :(

Guess that means 70d will have the alloy body, it's a good thing, right?

Yes, it would be a good thing to have the 70D return with it alloy body intact. I guess if the 650D is going to be introduced next week with 24mp's, then the 70D will likely have the same sensor.

24mp on entry level asp-c sensor? R they out of their mind? What abt high ISO noise level? Who r going to buy the 650d? Amazingly speechless liao. The Sony Alpha 77 is a good example. So many ppl complain abt the noise. Just like d800's 36 mp, it's gonna be another joke.

Maybe Canon has figured out a way to tweak just a few more pixels without increasing noise levels too much.... after-all, they did it with the Canon GX 1.

If they are to release a FF for landscape (and studio) wouldn't they need to release a good wide for landscape?

You mean a wide angle lens? Aren't there already a few? 17-40; 16-35; Sigma 12-24 and a few primes?

Don't forget a significant consumers who buy entry level cameras are those who think more MP = better. You tell them ISO noise etc they will "huh". Those who are more aware of such technical details might be lured to buy single digit series.

:bsmilie: This reminded me sometimes back when I told one of my friend that the digital camera that he just brought had problem with ISO noise problem at ISO 400 and above. He looked astonishingly at me and told me flatly that I do not know what I am saying and that they were talking about camera and picture, not an audio player. Then he laughed at me and say how can a still picture produced noise. I laughed in my heart because he did not even know what he was talking about.

Alright, two more days. The announcement of truth. Oh, yeah~~

The $3500 price tag may be for Camera plus kit lens (24-105 MkII). Many are speculating that the camera body is only US$2700.

If the new canon body is about S$3000, from history, Nikon body usually cheaper, then the new D800 is S$2600 to S$2800??? Ho say liao.... Haaa

Update from Canon Rumor..........

*UPDATE*
March 2 will be the date for the 5D replacement. Confirmation of events in France and Singapore.

There may be something else on February 28 and things were reversed.

I wonder what will happen on the 27th/28th then?

Well, Canon can tickle our balls and launch a high end P&S.... or the 580EXII replacement, or a few new lenses... before they hit us with the new body.....
