read from another forum someone claims that there was just a meeting held in Canada on the 5D3 and it was suggested to be $3800 Canadian (S$4700+?)with lens and that the fps are 7 and they AF is very near 1DX. It seems ex but spec looking good.

There is some speculation brewing on the price of the new 5D Mk3 (X).

It was quoted earlier that the price of the new camera may be introduced at US$3,500. However, some are saying that this price is the "Kit Price" and not body alone. In fact one poster (on another forum), did an analysis and conjectured the incoming price of the body only to be US$2714.

Here is the analysis:

The Yen vs. USD argument is not going to dictate the MSRP. Otherwise, based on …….. chart, Canon would be asking for $10,145 for 1DX, which won’t fly!

The breakdown and analysis does make a lot of sense..... based on the figures, and a 5D range being 40% of the 1D range......

But what if this new FF camera is not a 5DIII but a 3D???? :think:

I think cr mentioned it would be a 5d cam announced next week, right? Maybe the one which is gonna be announced in April will be called 3d

I have certainly no idea too, so guess will have to wait and see how it goes next week..... just another 6-7 days more....

Meanwhile...... when the 24 & 28mm IS Patent showed up, it was shown with the 35mm F2 IS USM......

The release of the 24 f/2.8 IS & 28 f/2.8 IS lenses brought a lot of questions wondering where the replacement 35 f/2 was. All 3 have shown up in the same patent, so that could mean a 35 f/2 IS is on the way.

D800 is very impressive! I can't wait to see what the 5D Mk3 (X) can do.

Notice how the detail in the lower left corner is resolved in the first sample with the D800 vs. D700 @ 3200 ISO (100% crop).

You may be right... D700 may be out of focus but it is also just a 12mp camera and wouldn't resolve as much detail as a 36mp.

The name of the new Canon 5D is confirmed.

It will officially be called the Canon 5D X.

It will be announced on the 28th of February with availability beginning in April.

Rumours of a high mp camera perhaps to be introduced in September 2012 for studio and landscape photographers.

It may be called (the long awaited): Canon 3D.

It will exceed 40 mp's.

Note: This is all pure speculation at this point.

The $3500 price tag may be for Camera plus kit lens (24-105 MkII). Many are speculating that the camera body is only US$2700.
