not sure but i heard it has to do with production as well since canon dslrs are made in japan. think not fully recovered from the earthquake.

Mmm... Nikon Thailand plant was also affected by the flood, and hard disk price still very expensive....

More natural disaster recently, and it does make you wonder if 2012 is true or not at times.... I hope not...

Here are the latest specs:

• 22MP,
• 6fps,
• 61 focus points (41 cross) same as 1DX system
• 100-25600 Basic ISO
• 1024k dots LCD display 3:2 wide (or 3.2" ?)
• Best Video quality in a DSLR.

We've seen these specs before but rumoured specifications are historically more accurate as get get closer to the launch date.

If these specs are true and price is about the same as the D800, then I will likely upgrade.

Frankly, I don't know how I'm going to handle 61 focus points!!! Going from 9 points to 61 is quite a jump! :bsmilie:

It is a good jump as the focus system is similar to 1Dx.
As my mentor mentioned before, you don't need a fast camera because you are a portrait shooter. :bsmilie:
If annoucement is on 2 March, based on past experience, the 1st batches will be delivered within March and will be limited for consumers.

Frankly, I don't know how I'm going to handle 61 focus points!!! Going from 9 points to 61 is quite a jump! :bsmilie:

I have no experience with the new Cam AF system.....

But in my 7D, I simply group the AF points to work together in the zone..... I can select different focusing point for portraits or landscape.... From 400D to 7D was a huge jump in technological advancement and I still have not mastered my 7D well (as in all the commands)... I think the jump could be similar in some senses, and need to read up a bit and test shooting before using it for an actual shoot would be ideal.

The 7D have a lot of people reporting the focusing issue, but to date, I personally feel that it is the shooters who could not be bothered to read up on how to use the AF points in 7D works..... hence, they did not get sharp images, wrong focusing point, which I feel mostly are PNS user jumping to 7D and expect it to be like a PNS......

If you getting the new cam, I believe the user need to go through this learning process... if you set the AF point to single, centre one, should be fine too.... and lesser relearning process....... focus & recompose technique....

Just my thoughts on the 61 focusing points.....

Just go to custom fuction, set the joystick to do the quick AF selection la. even easier.

There's a lot of speculation about the 2 camera theory. One for sports/journalist users (lower MP's and higher FPS) and the other for landscape/portrait (higher MP's and lower FPS). In my opinion, I think that this would be ideal for the marketplace and a bonus to photographers.

The question that I have is whether Canon will follow Nikon's lead in providing a model with or without an anti-aliasing filter. Rumours have also been silent about the swivel LCD.

may be canon can up the stake by having a sensor that can turn AA filter on & off as you like :bsmilie:

I like this idea! It's like the new 200-400 lens in which the user has a choice of using the built in 1.4x teleconverter.

I read most of the user review then (last Sept) before I buy my cam, and I concluded mostly user issues... I could be wrong... but thankfully, mine is still spot on so far..... after taking it out for a few events shooting.... will be trying out shooting soccer with it soon....

I have not master the Al servo.... so good time to start... lol.... anyone with any tips???

Maybe I will try to check the back focusing issue in dim condition just to be safe.... Send it to CSC for checking since still under warranty......

Usually, I just set the zone for shooting (cam can recognize different zone for landscape or portrait, depending on your holding of the camera), and I seldom need to reset when shooting....

If I use point, I need to select and select....

Center AF point focus, and recompose technique is good for 5D cos it's center AF is the best.... and pro tend to use this technique to be fast....
