lol, never show them the posts here.

Wow, 98 people said they have bought the Mk 3. At $4135 (ebay.com.sg price), that's at least $400,000 worth of camera sold in SG alone (don't know how many tourists and other SG'ns bought it too). Wonder what the worldwide numbers are.

Canon are certainly doing quite nicely, thank you very much! :)

It's autofocusing improvement makes it nice but IQ wise the Mark II seems to be better at low ISO (I have not experienced it my self but dpreview widget allows you to compare the 2 5Ds. Plus its focusing screen cant be interchanged like the MkII. The improvement in the fps is a step in the right direction. Basically I think Canon's incremental approach means that I'll pick up the 5D Mkiv in three years time or so. The MkIII is a good improvement but the price also improved. One thing that is important the the mkIII is CA correction. So you can use not so good lenses and get away with it. Purists however will be appalled.

No doubt. Mk3 will not make everyone happy. Neither would D800, nor D800E. Can't please everyone..can't say I'm pleased with mk3 either, wished the IQ is better at low ISO, DR and all that. Like you, I'd probably wait for the next gen, or the cheaper FF with better sensor (hopefully) compared Mk2.

Everyone has different needs I suppose =]

out of curiosity, what of the 5D3's IQ wasn't satisfactory to you?

I thought I mentioned it in the post, low ISO IQ and DR? In comparison to mk2, marginal, and D800, a larger margin.

coming from 60D background and a short period of Mark II's experience, the 61 focus points is like a culture shock. but in a pleasant way. :)

my 50mm f1.4 lens was great on 60D, but when attached to Mark III, suddenly it shines more. haha.. i'm exaggerating, but i'm sure u guys understand how hard it is to contain this excitement. :D

give me about 1-2 days before i can make a more rational judgement on the camera. haha!

cheers!

Rationality is for the sane. We can hardly be classified as sane. HAHAHAHAHA. Enjoy your new toy! :-P

You'll have to wait for next generation and cross your fingers for an improvement in sensor performance.

Or if you're not deeply invested in Canon lenses, consider the upcoming Nikon D600: entry level FF with superb 24 MP sensor.

Personally, I have given up all hope in Canon sensor technology. If not for some of their superb lenses, I'll have dumped them long ago.

Yup, the new 24MP full-frame sensor should be pretty cool. I like to see the higher ISO noise performance.

Planning to join the 5dm3 group this weekend. Have emailed a couple of popular shops at funan and so far best price quoted is 4130 with a 32GB CF card. Just wondering if any bros managed to get anything lower? Read that Song Bro offered below 4k but that was in Aug. guess that promo is off le.

If any bros got more competitive price, and not convinient to share here, kindly pm?

Thanks!

Indeed, $3899 with GST.

Nice price. Guess both the Canon 5D Mark III and the Nikon D800 are both coming to a more reasonable price level. Good for all, I say.

Yes...although not much diff for ppl upgrading from d700- d800 or 5d2 - 5d3.

Even though d800 price has dropped, resale for d700 would also have dropped, so the top up required may not differ much.
