oh man, those lenses produce out of this world bokeh. but nah, not today. not right now. I'm settled for now...actually there's a cheaper alternative for me...50 f/1.4. however, i'm juz waiting to see if canonrumors is right when they say that the 50 f/1.4 II will be released this year. and if so, wait and see the quality of it.

hmm...now u've just gotten me started on thinking wad lenses to get in future...........

Be contented with what you have rather than to keep chasing for the latest or the biggest body or lenses... the best equip is only as good as it's wielder. Even though I used and owned a few Ls, to me it's just a lens. That is why I still prefer to keep it "taped" up den to show it's white.

i see. well...it's just very tempting. i have to agree with you. i feel that my skills level is pretty much at entry level now since i'm only 6 mths serious into this. sometimes i feel i'm maybe better off with the 500D + kit lens cuz the photos i take don't usually justify the cost. for one, i dun use 6.3fps at all. i realise this hobby is like cars. u don't have to be a good driver, but if u can afford it...just get the ferrari because it looks good. on the streets i realise that photographers usually look at each other's gears more than the photos. there's only once when a random photographer i bumped into at mt faber was interested in the photos i took than compare my gear to his. well as much as i'd love to chase the Ls...i have to ask myself "but for what?". thanks for the reminder my friend. =)

If the rumored 60D forgoes the Megapixel race and instead comes with an amazing Low light sensor that gives clean images at 6400, I will join the BBB in a heartbeat.

Size of pixels has NOTHING to do with low light ISO performance. Size of sensor and state of technology are the determining factors. Everything boils down to the amount of light captured by the sensor AS A WHOLE as well as the amount of on-chip electronic noise.

i've made a vow to not spend on anything related to photography til dec. i'm trying to stop the BBB syndrome.

You shouldn't have to buy anything unless there is something your current equipment cannot fulfill. I spent a heavy amount in my first year of photography, but I know at this stage I don't have to spend as much the following year.

yup. 7 months into this hobby...i've spent a lot for someone in NS. and i doubt i'd be spending anymore because i feel that right now, i lack nothing and nothing is holding me back...other than the lack of the longer focal range which i hardly use except for some times during events or street when i wish i had the longer reach. so just like u, i doubt i'd have to spend on anything much. perhaps a EW-83J lens hood for my 17-40 since i'm on crop?

last time, I bought 450D + Kit, then dunno how to use it. Sell it away, decide to try again so I bought a 2nd 350D with Tamron 17-50mm.
From that they onwards, I am in love with 350D, especially after firmware hack such that I got 2 350D bodies with 2 lens.
2 x 350D body still cheaper than the 450D + kit I bought.

550D will just allow me to take full advantage of a VSLR. Reason 500D turns me off is noise performance, mono mic. 550D also mono mic, but at least it can put external mike wor.
Thanks to my S5 IS, videos cannot be monaural.

got. i bought it just yesterday. but then the hood kinda big and short...i want something else for better protection. so found out that ew-83j is very compatible to the 1.6 crop.

Make sure they have the same fitting wor....
Buy those 3rd party one, shouldn't cost more than $20 if you search around those online store especially.
