Canon 450D - Should I buy the kit or just the body?

Haha....I always use the kit lens that comes with my SLRs so never really explore...I always change camera and lens together......

I definitely love to join the 450D gang for a shootout but 1st I have to apply leave from my wife and daughter....Haha.....too many cameras but too little time for me...

I would say avoid the IT fair, usually no good deals for camera body and lens.

I'm a strong advocate of the BnS forum, so maybe you can consider the pairing of 400D and 50mm f1.4 instead, can get below 1K.

Sorry to butt in but I am also thinking of getting 450D this IT fair, wondering if I should change the lens to a EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM.

Problem is I do not know much of a difference between this lens against the kit len.

ef-s 18-200mm f3.5–5.6 IS is way off my little budget.

The EF 28-105mm lens is without IS & you get a cropped focal length of 44.8 - 168mm on a 450D. Which is not ideal when taking group or indoor shots.... :think:

My gut feel is that you should start off with the kit lens first, spend some time using that first before deciding what you're missing? 28mm on the wide end might not be wide enough for you on a crop. But you should probably try out both lenses when you're at the IT fair and see if you're used to the focal lengths before deciding?

Reputable shops like J3:16, CP, OP, MS, AP should get you that lens.

and with freebies = the memory card and tripod etc.
