Canon 40D to be on sale at comex?

The printer is based on 'purchase upon purchase' ...when u buy the camera, u pay less for the printer...be careful with the small words printed... hehehe

40D is only a small upgrade from 30D, just compare to 5D first before talking about D300. Now D300 is coming, many are comparing it with D2Xs and many think it is better than D2Xs in many aspects. How is 5D comparing to D2Xs? Even many Canon users are asking this question "Nikon D300 / D3 what effect on Canon?" Think about it, spend wisely. The choice is yours, after that you can't regards about it.

I just tried the 40D with my 400 F5.6 + 1.4TC with taped pins. Without
taped pins the 40D refuses to focus. I thought canon would at least
grant AF above f5.6.

Having said this, I focused on the dark halls of the place outside
TCW and I felt that the AF is much better than 30D, It locks on in
low light at ISO400 setting very fast even with AI SERVO on.

So for those that want to use F5.6 400 MM with 1.4 TC and you
can handhold, the 40D looks very promising. Bump the ISO to
higher than ISO 500 to ISO 800 and I think this is a really
good combo...

This is just my feeling about the 40D compared to my 30D.

The promo at Comex not bad liao lah...the maxtor 80GB external harddisk will cost S$100++...Then the EOS bag cost around S$20, then the Lens workbook, DVD-R & extra pcs of CF cards (2x2GB)...from my extimation, if the 40D comes without all the freebies, should cost at least S$1835....

But what grabs my attention is the extended warranty comes with free 50mm F1.8...hehehe

anyone know how much the extended warranty costs? for how many years?

Based on what Canon Singapore is currently offering, the cost of 2 years extended warranty for 20D/30D is $250. I believe it should be the same pricing for 40D also. I don't have the info at the moment on the offer price of the extended warranty at the comex show.

Anyone out there has any info on the cost of the extended warranty at the comex show?

Yes, worth every cents. The prints are cheaper and printing speed is faster. I paid S$360 with a box of paper for 50 prints at Alan Photo 8 months ago.

Hmm I went with my two uncle and cousins today. My uncle got the 40D while my cousin got the 400D. 40D extra 2 years warranty cost $250 while 400D cost $150. So in total you get 3 yr and 3 months warranty and ya the 50mm f1.8 lens.

I believe there are sets available at Comex. The term I heard used was 40D would be "on sale", not "available for pre-order".
