Canon 40D to be on sale at comex?

I just talk to a salesman who will be selling Canon camera during the coming COMEX show (30 August), Canon will be selling some limited stocks of 40D, the actual quantity I was not told.
I was told that initially Canon Singapore was not able to secure any 40D stock, due to overshelming sale in Japan. Since COMET 2007 is such a big event, finally a limited stock of 40D are allocated to Singapore.
Also, if OCBC credit cards are used to purchase Canon products, there will be some sure win lucky draw, I think some conditions applied.

Travel there to buy them when the prices are stable and the equipment is more reliable with lesser problems..

I agree that Big DSLR is sure good to hold.. feels good.. but may be heavy for some users. I dun mind the weight cos the cam has good specs.
check the warranty card, does it state specifically international warranty?

That price is cheaper than 30D body here?

Save the $$ till end of the year to by N D300, C 40D is a toy when the 2 stand side by side.
Oh - OK - So you have tested both cameras and are speaking from experience???
Come on! How can you make a vague statement like that. Presently no single person has them side by side to compare so let's take a breathe and wait till they really are both safely in the hands of users and you can compare apples with pears.
thought it is international warranty but Canon will not recognise it...mean they will still charge u if need any service for any DSLR. Lenses at least Canon Singapore will convert it to 6mth local warranty...
Called them from Jakarta, the sales said that 40D will be available tommorow....

The choice is yours. When D200 was out, dpreview compare it with 5D a FF. A statement from dpreview "Which brings us to the competition, from a build/features point of view it's clearly ahead of the Canon EOS 20D/30D and in my opinion a step above the EOS 5D, a baby D2X."
40D is only a small upgrade from 30D, just compare to 5D first before talking about D300. Now D300 is coming, many are comparing it with D2Xs and many think it is better than D2Xs in many aspects. How is 5D comparing to D2Xs? Even many Canon users are asking this question "Nikon D300 / D3 what effect on Canon?" Think about it, spend wisely. The choice is yours, after that you can't regards about it.
I know D300 will be more expensive than 40D and many already invest a lot in Canon lens, so many got stuck now. Like many had mentioned Canon had short change many users for a long time and they only take care of their 1D users. You MUST let them know that they are suck, so they will give all users value for money. If we users continue to spend and upgrade, they will think that we are suckers, so they will continue to short change us.
So, if you want a 50D that can match a 5D Mk II, tell them now with their short change 40D so they will wake up.

Look. I agree with what you say below and I am a Canon user, but I have nothing against Nikon, actually I liked the models they had like the D200 and the D2x but I guess the canon lenses were the reason I went Canon ( Although the 12-24 Nikon lens is awesome )
I am quite happy Nikon pulled thiso utta the bag so that Canon do wake up and give us some better focusing options and some of the other nice feature that are going to be on Nikons new kingpins.
The problem is we are only going to be able to really know what we want to have until we get to play with it and see if the specs are all as good as they sound. I am sure there will be some things that Nikon still needs to work on too even with this new lineup.
I am dying to get more news on both the 40D and the D300 to see exactly where the technology is going and start to think of my new body
