Canon rush out product too fast, that's why 10D got that focusing problem. I believe their servicing department must be cursing like hell.
Canon is treating digicam/DSLR like printers, scanner, monitor where they just make some cosmetic change and give it a new name every 6 to 12 months. Reason is they could shorten the life span of a product, parts & warranty. Hence more profit. less liablility. :nono:
Nikon still got an edge over superb product and engineering. Only those who cannot taste the grape would call it sour, just like the one above me.
By mass producing and releasing it fast they are capturing the market.
And there is no prove that Canon cannot support what they have sold. They have proven success in many fields of electronics, office automation equipments and such.
In this econmony you have to be quick to capture the market.
Look at seasoned bakeries like Four Leaves and Prima Deli, they have been around in Singapore for many years.
But did they succeed in 'capturing' the market?
BreadTalk is a new comer and while I will not say their bread is the most delicous out there.
Their marketing stagery to name the breads with fancy names and nice design and colors to be appealing to the eyes. is a winner.
After all, we know that for a food to be classified good, it has to have good color, smell and taste.
The Color comes first for the customer to 'see' or be attracted to the product, then the 'Smell' to whip up his hunger, then only HE BUYS and then finally eats it to TASTE.
If the product does not Attracts with good design, even if the engineering and after sales is good, no one will knows cause it takes someone has HAS BOUGHT to know.
BreadTalk came in with a new concept and quickly swamped the market with 11 branches (maybe even more) and it suddenly became like 'BreadTalk here and there....'
So if they start hitting the neighbourhood shops, even the neighbourhood bakeries may start to close.
While specialised bakeries make better cakes, it is not enough sales as the main market is lost.
If Nikon don't improve their marketing stagery, they are in trouble.
TRUE, they have their pool of 'LOYAL' customers with their lenses and will not switch camps.
The problem is, if they do not Increase the pool, their revenue from the existing customers is limited and hence it's their ability to R&D and produce more newer products.
Canon has products in many fields to generate income to fund R&D.
Nikon should stop protraying themselves as a very Professional only image as it may be shunned by newbies.
They should target the consumers market to get young people to famailarise with the brand.
If they can gain a larger 2MP,3MP,4MP consumer market, the customer will get used to the Nikon products and hopefully stick to nikon in his/her future purchases.
Just by lowering the DSLR prices won't save Nikon.
Afterall, where did all the 300D users come from, they all started with some consumer or prosumer cameras right?
