if i had the money to get 15-85... i'd rather get 2nd hand 17-55 f/2.8... IQ-wise, 17-55 is generally thought to be the best among crop lenses...
yeah for most walkabouts there's no need for f2.8. i'm thinking of getting the 15-85 for its useful focal range plus good build quality. unfortunately the downside is vignetting.
Hi, that's really up to you, try asking yourself these qns,
1. Do you need it urgently?
2. Can you wait for like end of the year? etc...
Just a note of caution, the silver lining around my lens sort of peel (just a small bit), I use a needle and superglue to paste it back so please check carefully before buying.
Happy using!![]()
anybody feedback this to Canon? mine also came off slightly.
Haha since the silver ring is so ugly then just peel it off lor!! :bsmilie::bsmilie:
What! and let it run around "naked"? :bsmilie:
anyway how's the build of the 15-85? solid? smooth zoom ring? any zoom creep? should be getting it next month.
lol...ok. the silver ring coming off is sth that pretty much scares me. but oh well...it will be my travel lens for a good many many years. dun intend to go to FF cuz i like the crop factor of 1.6x. lol...
Hi guys
I'm kinda new here and to dslr photography so pls pardon my noob-ness.
I've the 500D for about a year plus now and I've been thinking about getting this lens recently. (After reading this thread I think I might go for it afterall.)
I just have one more question which I hope somebody can help answer:
There's this feature "peripheral illumination" in the 500D which can help to minimise the vignetting issue, right?
Does it have to be turn on manually in the camera? Or is it already incorporated into the system by default?
