Hmmm... my 10D...
3 seconds start up time... another 3 to wake her up when she sleeps...
Missing spot meter... Max 9 frames for Raw...then wait for the little red blinking light to go off... puny LCD screen which the colour's a little off... cranky white balance at times...
and a DOF preview button that my thumb always miss then I need it...

But neither am I in any way perfect.
When I look at the pictures at the end of the day I still go
'Woah... how did I ever manage to do this?'...
Maybe its because I know her like the back of my hand and yet she still manage to give me
a little suprise what she can capture from time to time...

Damn... I think she's got a good hold on me...

I love my trusty 10D. Looks like she has gone to iraq and back but still serving as my backup after and illustrious career of over 300k shots on the same mirror heh heh.. Not to mention mud I cant seem to get out the aperteure dial. Must be like the sam swee women tough... Hopefully my 5D can live up to a ripe old age like his granny. somehow I still prefer my 10d over 20d and 30d heh heh.. Maybe am just sentimental.. Saved my arse once too when my IdmkII froze on an actual day.. Who needs a 1 series ha ha...

Yes the LCD is smaller and viewing pics n it can be a chore. But that doesn't matter for me cos i transfer the pics to my Zen Vision W to view.

i have been told at Canon service that they sold
10D twice as many as the combined 20D/30D .....

replacement parts for 10D should be more readily available
and perhaps have long run than those 2 models.
Canon have a habit of keeping parts for models that are
more popular ( not more recent )

Wow did they give a rough figure as to how many 10Ds have been sold in sg so far?
the 10D was a huge major jump from the D30 and D60 series therefore many chose to upgrade to that. However the jump aint as big as that to the 20D or the 30D with a softening in the feel and build quality of the camera....

such a strong testimonial! what more can i say...:sweatsm:

Considering the improvements in noise reductions of the 20D and 30D and all the other bits of niceties like 0.2sec start ups and usb2.0+++ when will you decide to upgrade and what will be the reasons for it?

When? When I get paid enough for an upgrade?

Why? Because the people paying me say my 10D is not good enough for them anymore. Hang on..... they are not paying me enough aren't they?

10D is more than good enough for up to 12r prints even. Just work within iso 400 and eveything will be fine :) Like I say my granny 10d is still in action heh heh...

In fact there are still many 10Ds in action.

Just came back from shooting in the rain.
My 10D will rise again tomorrow and shoot another day ...Long live 10D !

haha! yes yes. absolutely the 10d! maybe it's me but i find the raw images on 10d are more pleasing and much easier to tweak than the 20d/30d. i wish the newer cameras had also the same kind of shutter sound in 10d. it's so sweet!! :sweatsm:

Wah i won't expose my 10D to the rain, even though i'm using it with 17-40. Just to be safe. :D

It's just like every weekend i shoot a couple of hundred shots and i'm afraid that someday soon my shutter will die.

In another note, anyone here knows approx. how long can the CCD last b4 it dies? I know replacing it costs a bomb.

10d doesn't use CCD if i remembered correctly. i think it's less than $2k. can't remember the exact and as some told me, the price to replace the sensor is as good as getting a new body.

I thought 10D uses CMOS ma?
Pray it won't die on you. Shutter or even the mirror can kaput and change, I think if the CMOS kaput, its game over. Quite expensive this CMOS thingy.
Economically not viable to replace CMOS.

sigh..... just took out my 10D to exercise the shutter...... the sweet sound of it all..... ;)

Oops! Yah yah it uses CMOS :bsmilie:

But i feel that i've been using my 10D a bit too much....like chiong it every weekend. Think now shutter count going to reach 30k liao.

that no such thing as using yur 10D a bit too much! ;) A camera is meant to be be used and not be kept as a showcase piece.
