Bro,
The antique 30 years camera cannot be outdated as it is using film. However digital bodies will get outdated when newer camera with higher Mega-Pixels came out. Even one 10D's CCD will last you for 10 years but after tat Canon can't even repair it as they might not even have the parts!
So personally I stayed away from Digital bodies becoz of this and also cost.

It is a hypothetical question, but what if there's no longer any film with which to load into the cameras?

Bro can i ask u something? Sorry ah i'm a new 10D user. Is it really necessary to have the BG-ED3 grip?

its not necessary, even if u shoot in portrait orientation alot, really depends on your preference.

for me, i have grips on both my 10d. not solely for portraits shooting but also for the extra battery slot. but some might think if it as extra weight and bulk.

the grips are on all the time except when i go travelling or casual walk-about shoot.

its up to u really.

1 thing abt the grip is that if your ballhead is not firm/strong enuff, the camera will tilt down a little no matter how tightly u tighten the ballhead knob. perhaps its because of the extra height that the grip adds to the 10d too. so most times when i need to mount my 10d, i'll remove the grip. maybe its just my lousy ballhead. haha.

If cameras are fashion, yes, it would go out of style.

Thankfully they're not. The firmware that's more important to be updated... is the user's own brain firmware.

that being said.. you shouldn't have any electronic appliances too... ie. TV, Radio, PC...

Or even net access as the standards keep changing to satisfy ever increasing consumer demand.

Thanks for yr comments. I got a new BG-ED3 grip from Canon today and though more expensive, but worth it as i really like the feel of it with the cam. :)

True abt the tripod head thing. I'm using a Manfrotto 484RC2 ballhead which can handle up to 4kg. Maybe what u meant abt the extra height is that the centre of gravity of the 10D with the grip is not low enough, thus giving the ballhead and extra weight to bear.
