How about come to SEED or photoshoot to get a hands on with both cameras?

HOw about buying 2 of them and try try?:D

how about current users tell me whether good ?
If you were me which would you buy ?

The diff is the brand...importantly you have to be comofortable with the cam :)

In terms of specs which is more worthwhile for such a price ?

If u have Canon lenses then Canon lor.
If u have Nikon lenses then Nikon lor.

Save marnee on the lenses :)
Also, u will have to see which interface r u more familiar or comfortable with. ;)

As far as I can comment, it is up to individual preference. Some diehard Nikon fans would say that Nikon lenses are better than Canon. While diehard Canon users would say that Canon technology & services is better.

The ugly truth is, the quality pictures is the man behind the camera, NOT the camera in front of the man.

Me thinking of getting a DSLR

Canon 10D or Nikon D100
Which is a better buy ?

The prices are not very far .... i think Got them from here:

It is like choosing either a merz or bmw.:D

I m waiting for 10D to come down . Heard a new 300d , digi version of 300v may come out. So i see how;)

I would agree with ivor...

The bottom line is how the pics you shoot turn out. It doesn't matter what brand of cam you are using...

*agape01 puts on full flame suit*

However, I think (but got no basis to prove my point and this is just for the fun of things) that Canon's IS or Image Stabilizer is way far better than Nikon's VR (Vibration Technology)...

Hope our Nikon frens do not get too bad over that statement...

;p

One great disadvantage is the after-sale service is not really satisfactory, as fas as I experienced.

Besides 10D & D100, there's also Fuji 's S2 Pro.

personal experience from using 10D and D100 is as follows:

D100 has an immediate(0sec) startup time (from off to on to shoot). 10D has a 2+sec startup time. unless u want to leave the camera on all the time, its agonising to see a "moment" and missed it cos the camera couldnt fire immediately. Shutter lag for both are similar, but D100 feels more rapid, 10D feels lighter(shutter release, not weight).

D100 is lighter and smaller than 10D. its niffy to hold and use.

Quality wise, both are good. 10D's digic processor allows slight post processing on images b4 write (which generates slightly nicer pics off-hand). saves time if u dun like to edit pics.

D100 has longer battery life. takes almost double the amount of pics on 1 battery compared to 10D. depends on your lcd preview usage, 10D averages around 300-500pics for me, up to 1000 pics for D100. (less batteries to bring?)

SB80DX is lighter and smaller than 550EX, and uses only 1 button for both vertical and horizontal tilt adjustment (550EX uses 2). this further divides the 2 in terms of handyness. 500EX on the other hand, is already wireless ready, with transmitter on board.

on/off switch is at shutter release button for D100, at middle bottm of camera back for 10D. this adds lag b4 1st shot.

for events photography, D100 has an advantage of smaller combined size and weight, and most imptly, immediate response.

for non-immediate-response photography, 10D offers slightly more control.

btw, i own a 10D and love it :)

I know its the user counts alot but can the below be some sort of benchmark ?
Comments ppl please:

Canon 10D Cons:
Conclusion - Cons
Opening the CF compartment door shuts camera down, loses any buffered images
Average automatic white balance performance, we expected more
Confusing sequence of lights in AI Servo auto focus
Stuck pixel noise in very long night exposures (3 mins plus)
Viewfinder view is smaller than film or full frame digital SLR's
Five levels of parameter adjustment is welcome, but why stop there?
No parameter adjustment with Adobe RGB color space selected
White balance not fine-tunable
ISO sensitivity not displayed on viewfinder status bar while being changed
Slow RAW conversion

Nikon D100 Cons:
Lacking in-camera sharpening leads to 'soft' looking images (to keep noise down?)
Internal / external D-TTL flash metering problem
Higher noise levels from images converted from RAW through Nikon Capture 3
Nikon View Editor RAW conversion has limited functionality (NC3 required for full control)
JPEG files not tagged with correct colour profile when color mode II selected
No onboard PC Sync flash socket (req. optional adapter)
Awkward ISO selection on mode dial
Firewire would have been nice
Compressed RAW mode is almost unusable (40+ seconds to store)
Viewfinder view is smaller than 'higher end' D-SLR's
