On my god, the new price of 30D is so much cheaper than the launched of 20D 1.8 years old.

The price of 30D is cheaper than its rival Nikon D200. The price war has just begun.

Those who wanted to or tempted to switch to other brands will now think twice.

I wonder how much market share can this new baby capture against all its rivals.
Due to the fact that Canon unwilling to increase the mega pixel...so price have to drop loh...$2.2k street price is quite reasonable when compare with D200.

Plus already so cheap...

guess used 20D have to be less than 1.5K to be even attractive now... ^^

I don't know why everyone keeps saying the current prices of DSLR are cheap. Have we forgotten how, for years, how little a respectable or even top-of-the-line film SLR cost? DSLRs still cost at least 5x the price of their film counterparts, and I still find that hard to accept. Maybe I'm just too old and stubborn.

true, but for film vs digital, I would say it's like pre-paid vs post-paid... try to compare like how many pix have u taken on your digital and how much will it cost you if you ever to take it on film.

Saving in time and money is all there... ^^

Nice solid body.....Was told by a retailer that it will be in on Friday and at 2.2K.......;)

c'mon spill the beans...where...where...where?

handled the 30D at the IT Show... not used to the big LCD though ;p

Well, while I agree with you that prices of DSLR is still too high, but looking at the total cost of ownership. 1.5 years since I own an DSLR which I spent $1000 for a second hand body, I had taken approx 8000 photos. Assuming 40% is a keeper, 3200x photos. 36 roll film is costing me $3 each, and plus $15 of development, it would had cost me $1600 running cost. All in all, it benefited me with DSLR from pure economy stand-point. The side benefit on instant review, and zero cost trial and error is priceless. So, I never regret to move to digital.

Me too got a chance to test it. Shutter very sensitive. Feels lighter than the 10D. Focusing much faster than 10D. Overall good experience! :)
