They seem to be moving the displays from shopping centre to shopping centre in rotation.

all advertising mediums is part of a marketing campaign, company need to have a clear direction of how they want to market their products and services, what message they want to deliver to their consumers, and choose appropriate advertising mediums accordingly.

does this fit in well with what Pentex marketing campaign?

Definitely not.

We don't have Pentax/Ricoh branch here in Singapore, only a distributor who isn't even dedicated to Pentax/Ricoh stuff. Pentax/Ricoh isn't investing in any money for local ads, our local distributor just can't bear this kind of cost on their own considering the margin and market size of Pentax/Ricoh cameras/lenses. The cost might be less if they put up ads on local medias, less hassle too.

Besides, most people don't even know Pentax nowadays, they only know Sony/Canon/Nikon. Fujifilm is getting back very strong w/ some fantastic products in the past a few years, and I have to say Olympus has done great job locally.

The best way is to make some great products like Fujifilm have been doing, not playing chasing games. Hopefully Pentax/Ricoh will make more products like GR - which I think is gonna be a big seller.

Ok, than look at brighter side, since owning Pentex cameras is so much cheaper than C or N or S, so why ask for more advertising activates? are Pentex users happy to see the rise of camera/lenses prices as the company need more money to fund the advertising activates?

Previous distro faced the same issue too.

Eg.
Ad campaign for K5 is $50k
This has to be distributed over all K5 sold.
Given that far fewer are sold than any Canikony, cost per unit goes up quite a bit

Ya know... It kind of gives me the idea that Pentax brand is just solely meant to stay IN Japan only.. LoL...

If it makes you feel any better, that's the case in Malaysia as well :) I know. I used to work for them (DSC World). It irked me to no end that we constantly had no budget for anything, and last year when we got handed a raft of other products, interest in Pentax and Ricoh inside the company dropped like a rock.

Too bad I'm a Pentaxian at heart, will have to find other ways to help them from the outside. haha!

Dont know about advertising in japan but i am sure should not be an issue to have those types of sit down shows on youtube to showcase their lens.

Something like this.

I might do a few videos on the lens that i have for what i do.

Olympus Pen range of cameras is a mass consumer product.
Pentax even more so.
Yes, this advertising approach can benefit Pentax in Singapore.

Except that Pentax apparently does not do so. Possible reasons:
• APD has small marketing budget
• Target for Pentax sales in Singapore is low so there is no need to advertise

This marketing is about visibility and planting a seed in the mass consumers' minds.

This marketing approach will not work for high end luxury product like Leica where branding and status is emphasised.
