Went to Camera Hospital yesterday cos my Metz flash seems not funtioning normal and no ready light too. The boss told me that he maybe a ble to fix the problem within 3 minutes.

So he cleaned the contact terminal and tested it out. Wow...my flash works as normal again ( for me did not suspect the cause of problem due to poor contacts)

Before leaving, I ask how much and he declined to accept any $.
It was very nice, honest and helpful of him and I really appreciate it very much. He could have pretend it to be of "other problem" and charge me at a price.

   Yes Steven is highly recommend, I sent all my stuff to repair. He careful and thoughtful much better then some other repairer I know.

Yes, Steven is very helpful! Whenever my canon lens and camera "injured", I go there instead of the crappy service centre they have!

Thanks for your commendation of Camera Hospital. I'll bring my faulty CASIO P&S camera for a checkup by Steven.

Cheers to good service provider! ;)

Could someone advise where is the shop? thanks!

wow, really a pleasant surprise.
quite different from my experience with this shop though..

I remember going down with my D30 about 1year plus ago and wanted to enquire about the charge for cleaning of my viewfinder as there was a few stubborn spots which don't go off even with much blowing.
the guy there checked my sensor and told me that the viewfinder is not important and showed me that my sensor has a black spot and told me that it could greatly affect the photo and explained how one small dot on the sensor could actually be more than 10 pixels on screen.
He quoted me $180 for servicing/cleaning of sensor and I was stunned.
I asked him can't I just use a blower and blow it away and he said that it was a stubborn stain which cannot be removed so easily.
I declined the service and went home to try to use a blower to blow the spot away, luckily it was just a stubborn dust that went away after some effort in blowing.

I somehow share the same sentiments as Shutt3rbug about 'Steven' at the Camera Hospital. Not really an all 'trust-worthy' guy. Must really do your homework before dealing with him. Just for those who are not in the know. Take care. Cheers!

Well like the last 2 posters, that's how my 1st experience with him went. However as I went back to him again.maybe I'm stupid, anyway he realised I'ms erious about photography and he showed me alot and even advise me what to get or what not to get. Being a noob he could have sold me some stuff I don't need but again he advise getting stuff from him.....as what he had was not suitable for me.

My experience with steven was good. He is willing to go the extra mile to repair my camera/lenses and after a few times going back there, he even gave me discount like $10-20 bucks off what was quoted earlier. kinda different from those who experience the "negative wrath" of steve...

Prinsep Street. It's really a short street can't miss it.

Steven's shop is located, as Azul123 mentioned, facing Prinsep St, in a building called Sunshine Plaza.

I've had only good encounters and Steven and I'd say that he is good, friendly, knows his stuff and professional. He has been servicing my out-of-warranty stuff since 2005 and I've recommended a lot of my friends to him. Up to each individual who goes there to make what you want out of your experience.

how much would he quote for cleaning the viewfinder of a D200?

For those newbies or who dont know their stuff very well, try sending your equipment for repairs at authorised dealers first before resorting to Camera Hospital. I think dealing with him is either a hit or miss. I never trust a salesman to handle my camera but Steven is a mixture of both salesman + technician.

He's nice to chit chat with for some camera tips but then again he's needs to eat too. I got charged much higher for a simple cleaning job and was just unlucky to have an unpleasant experience with him. But then again, its better to do your own homework first before making a trip down. I would only go to his shop if I need to look for very old stuff.

Hope that helps.

So far all the "negative stuffs" happen to me when I deal with other repairer. Not yet with steven. So far he do go an extra miles. Then again each to his own. I am thankful so far no problem with him. not like other repairer I know. Those whom pretend to be your friend only to find out they charge more for friend. ;)

Advice is to cultivate a good working relationship with these people at all times meaning that drop in to say hi even when you have no favour to ask. Buy them a cuppa of kopi or tehsi or makan, and be like old friends. The time and money spent will be worth it when you go to them for help.
