Buying Alpha this weekend

I find you can find very great 2nd hand deals for certain Minolta lens that have quality optics that you cannot buy at the competitor's 2nd hand price, though recently the 2nd hand minolta lens prices have gone up too.

1 - is the tele kit lens worth getting?

2- My other option (for a 2nd lens) is to get a second hand 50mm 1.4 (not macro) minolta lens - what price is fair for a good-condition one?

The tele kit seem to be good from 75-200mm range, above that the quality may drop a bit. Some KM users seem to have good experience on it. But you probably can get a 2nd hand cheaper KM version from B&S.

50mm f/1.4, the current 2nd hand price seem to be around $230-300 depend on condition and model.

1-yes worth getting..try the 2nd hand km version
much much cheaper

2- depending on yr budget the f1.7 version worth considering too

noise excessive? use a noise removing software lor. problem solved. but seriously the a100 is one damn good camera, accompanied by a good kit lens. if u use stuff like 28-75 f2.8 with the a100, the results r quite impressive. MTL BBB :devil:

Interesting.. why SONY A100 noise level is not as good as KM5D..
Their SSS is better than KM5D antishake..
DRO is an improvement..
Continue shooting until memory is full.. this is cool, imagine, just press on the shutter and it just shoot.. will not miss any moment.. "yeah who needs fast AF"..
and.. the AF seems to be better than KM5D..

OK.. back to ISO noise.. noise reduction reduces details and need longer processing time..
Maybe.. just maybe, SONY thinks that with SSS, not many users will use ISO above 400..
They are focusing more on speed and details..
If you look at dpreview website on SONY A100 review, it's being compared with 30D and D200.. and SONY looks good..

So, do you still think ISO noise is important if there is SSS on the body?
We can't really compare btw DSLR body with SSS and non SSS...
I'm glad that SONY focus more on photo detail/sharpness and speed rather than on getting good ISO noise..

Is it a good DSLR, you bet.. and those who is using one, you are really lucky... don't worry so much about lens.. with the KM G lens range and new Carl zeiss lens range.. no one will say SONY has got no good lens..
Starts worrying about "not enough money" to get these lens instead..
