Kinda curious...

There was this particular thread where someone complain he kena con or wad cos his mobo doesn't work after buying it frm da seller.

I'm wondering, would it be better if we have something like a buyer/seller reputation kinda thing?

Maybe a star rating system kinda thing to prevent bad buyer/seller thing?

make thing complicated as it already is...

i think there have been similar calls for a ratings system, but have been rejected. reasons being users can switch IDs anytime, plus the integrity of the rating itself. an innocent seller can kena an irresponsible rating from a punk buyer, and vice versa. who is going to verify the ratings?

no point using it coz this is not a selling site... the tread is just for helping u to sell not give legal selling in a point of view.... just the arowana website selling fish which gov said is illegal "is is what i heard from the news last few months again"

wont work. just stick to your intuition

it's subject to abuse.

Other who do not like you, would give you bad rating always...

can i change my vote to no.

i just realise we can multi lots of accounts and just vote for ourself

I know of a photosite in Holland where the rating system works perfectly! I have already asked the clubsnap people few times but none want to start it :-(. It does require some moderator work........
It can work but there is no will.........I am tired of telling it again.

this will not work - reasons already stated by the others - it's just a plain waste of resources

put it this way.
a) moderators aren't paid
b) its a lot of work.
c) its not perfect
d) people will become complacent, use the system as though its faultless, then blame the moderators and the site should something go wrong.
e) because of d, there may be some legal liability introduced to the clubsnap owners and moderators.

Here is an example:

http://www.fotoapparatuur.nl/Digitale_camera/Canon/Ad52008.html

browse below and click on the number behind sellers ID

This site is run by only ONE person! And he does the checking of feedback before it gets posted, I understand it all depends on the reliabiliy of the people using this system, apparently Singaporeans are not enough trustworthy to have this sytem working? It works in Holland........are they more trustworthy? I don't know.......

How do you know if you haven't tried i out? I suggest to try it out for a few months and lets see how it goes. There may be a few miusing the system, but who knows, it may work!

well, decision lies with the administrator and how much work it will take to implement such a system.... i believe its been discussed in other threads...I think the likelihood of it happening = zero

Yes, of course, it is up to them. But Ithink all those discussions are all based on assumptions....assumptions that Singaporeans might misuse the system, that all will suddenly make different ID's......well it may occur, but from every 100 good deals, maybe 2-3 may have fake feedbacks.....I think we can live with that?........the point I wanted to make is that it is working! And that is no assumption..........

I really think it benefits the Buy and Sell portion of this forum: sellers will try their best to give good service, or else get bad feedback.

And buyers need to get good feedback to be trustable in closing a deal....and not just bidding for 'fun'.......

Maybe the very least, if the system isnt going to be implemented, we have a "Guidelines to buying used cameras."

A complete compilation, like, how to check for Lens scratches, how to test before buy, must take the seller/buyers photo, before buying/handing over ? Or do we oredi have that? :p

reputation ?

come on.

not everybody sells stuff. and i mean not everybody stocks 20 pieces of the same lens and sells them off - if so then yes maybe reputation comes into place.

most of the people selling or buying are just making a one-time sale, one-time purchase. like i buy a 50/1.8. 10 days later i find that i can't live without a 1.4.. so i decide to sell my 1.8.. but i got no reputation and nobody wants to buy from me... that's one kind of (very extreme) scenario.

if you're talking about some sellers or buyers being very bad eggs.. well.. that can't be helped. we're talking real world here.. even in businesses people can pang seh you anytime. you can only exercise your own discretion when buying/selling. besides, everybody has their own side of the story, own side of the coin. it's just not going to work out.

Unfortunately I don't think it will work for reasons already described.

If I am going to give my money to someone for something, I do some checking first.

If I can't be sure about it, I don't part with my money.

"This applies to new gear...I don't and won't buy second hand.....
NO one can convince me an item might not have taken some shock"

If you want assurance, buy NEW from where you can get a refund.

If you buy second hand, be prepared to take the risk.

As the saying goes," Let the buyer beware".

Cheers

Just bought a lens from a CSer with a considerable posting almost has 2,000 posts. He sells his lens rated as mint but has specks of dust in the lens.

When I request to return the lens since it was just a little over an hour ago and I cited that mint condition was not suppose to have specks of dust in lens, he blew his top and said I accused him of lying.. which I did not want to make a big deal out of it and he offered me $20 to get the lens cleaned. His excuse is I've tested the lens and that's that.

But before buying I stated I am a newbie and only took shot with the lens to check colour and confirms whether it works with my cameras.

Anyhow, this is a bad experience buying from CSer, I am sure there not many people like that here. Nevertheless, I think newbie are exposed to this kind of cases.

Just my 2 cents. One bad experience that I wished not to happen to others.

Don't worry lah! Dust almost always appear inside lenses. These will not affect your image at all! Good that he refunded you SGD 20 for cleaning though.

I still don't understand why people keep saying it won't work while I was showing another website with the same design as Clubsnap, that shows the feedback DOES WORK!
