No leh.. din buy the P5000. It was the old 5mp CP5000.

Anyway, my company's D40 arrived this morning.. Wah.. got a bit of shock because more steps to change settings.. Too used to direct access to everything... ;p

Edit: Just put in sRealav2 curve and the images are perfect!! I highly recommend using this custom curve. ;p

I'm interested in trying this out... how do you load the curve?

Download a trial copy of camera control pro. You'll only get to do this within the trial period. Alternative is to buy a copy. ;p

?!?!?!?!?!?!?
How do you load a curve into the D40?!

With the new curve.. what you mean by "images are perfect?" more "accurate" exposure?(More to the Matrix instead of Matrix II type of metering) If yes, I will go change now :D
Perfect as in how I want it to be. It's a more technically correct response.

Will post some images for comparison of normal tone vs sRealav2 tomorrow. The histogram are more centered and you get better contrast. Anyway, I had to set the LCD brightness to -2 to get an even distribution of the bars and closer match to my calibrated monitor.

lol... I thought you meant modify the internal firmware within the camera, not camera control pro!

I'm not going to take a laptop around with me :bsmilie:

It's just required for you to upload the curve into the camera.. It's a one time process, that's why trial version is enough. ;p Then you can select the curve in camera from the Optimize image -> custom -> tone compensation -> custom curve.

The first image is using tone compensation = 0. The second using Custom which is loaded with the sRealav2 curve. The exposures are taken one time and then locked so both images are shot with identical exposure settings.

This curve gives a better shadow detail without blowing out the highlights. The histogram is skewed towards the right and more centered. The normal tone curve tends to be a bit conservative so overall image seems slightly underexposed but gives a richer colour.

All are shot in sRGB mode Ia for a more natural gamut.

Thks *biggrin*

I'll go play with the camera. Prob is I too ;azy to disturb my current custom settings. :bsmilie:

You need to load in the custom curve first, otherwise there is no custom tone curve in the camera. You need at least version 1.3 to work with D40. Also need to set the USB mode to PTP mode (instead of Mass Storage mode) to work.

yessir. :D
Darn. I'm to lazy to touch the camera now. Just came back from kimchi land, my brain's abit screwed up. Not thinking exactly straight. :bsmilie:
