Here is my answer for your question, pardon me if the answers might be not so ideal / good enough because I still need to learn a lot from all of you ;p

Some of the photos that I took before April 2009, using these lens (pardon me if I had to mention the brand in order to not to confuse / giving an accurate information) :
1. Wide angle 11-18 mm F/4.5-56 (sony)
2. Zoom Lens 18-70 mm F/4.5-6 (sony kit lens)
3. Zoom Lens 55-200mm F/4-5.6 (sony kit lens)
4. Fixed Lens 500mm F/8 Reflex (sony)

And by accidently, my APS-C camera was spoiled (by my mistake, not because of the camera itself) after doing nature photo shooting at Ubin Island, than I change the camera to higher one (after April 2009), and the lens are :
1. Wide Angle CZ 16-35 mm F/2.8
2. Zoom Lens 70-200 mm F/2.8 (G Lens)
3. Fixed lens 50 mm F/1.4 (sony)
4. Fixed Lens 500mm F/8 Reflex (sony)

Right know I used to set the camera at lower setting :
1. Brightness (-1 until -2)
2. Saturation (-1 until -2)
3. Sharpness (-2)
4. Contrast (-2)
And using M (manual mode) with with balance for day time I often use day light (-1 until -2) and for night time often use AWB

To Paulsurf :

for me,all camera dslr brands are good (with their own plus minus aspects), just depend on what the photographers need / interest. i can say like that because we can ajust the setting of the camera based on what we want. (pardon me if my opinion is wrong, it is just what i know lah). prevoiusly i used kodak film camera (very simple and so light), kodak pocket camera, then hanphone camera (samsung omnia), then sony DSLR 350 (and this camera was spoiled because of my fault, not because of the camera it self) and right now i use sony DSLR Alpha 900. i also try some of other camera brands like nikon, canon, pentax, olympus (belongs to my friends), cool..all of the cameras have their own characther, plus minus...very interesting ;p

the lenses that i use with my camera right now are (only these lenses i have, not so many...but i've alredy feel fun and happy using them):

1. Wide Angle CZ 16-35 mm F/2.8
2. Zoom Lens 70-200 mm F/2.8 (G Lens)
3. Fixed lens 50 mm F/1.4 (sony)
4. Fixed Lens 500mm F/8 Reflex (sony)

Hi,

just wondering did you crop your pictures to make it elongated? Cos i believe you have used a wide angle lens just that its somehow too wide that i wonder how you manage to stay under a bridge and capture the bridge above you with the rest of the bridge . Its like the bridge is way above your head

The photo # 32 Curves of Handerson Bridge (Handerson Bridge, Singapore, 2008) I shot using lens 18-70 mm f/4.5-6.5 (kit lens for aps-c camera). Yes, I went down to the buttom of the bridge and tried to shot from below of the bridge. Thanks for your C&C, cheer ;p

To SeAnCoLd :
I shot the sunset with metering at the crane (tat close to the sun) and I set the camera at lower level (saturation, brightness, sharpness, contras at level -1 until -2) & increased DRO (Dynamic Range Optimizer to level +3 to get the detail of the object that was shaded). Yes, I also did some adjustment (PP) using Adobe Photosop CS 2 . Pardon me if my answer is not so ideal, hopefully I also can learn from all of you for my improvement. Thanks a lot for your C&C ;p

I particularly like the night shots.But how did you do it? Do you use any filters? Esp those taken in during sunset. Really inspire to take out my cam and start shooting again.

Yes, some of the photos I shot using filter (others taken only using UV filter to protect the lens from dust, water, scratch):

The sunset, I shot without special filter (only UV filter to protect the lens) because I prefer the “natural filter”, that is the thin cloud / fog in front of the sunset , that helps to block the excessive light from the sun (so the flame surrounding the sun can be reduced and can get the better round shape of the sun)

For all of you, pardon me if in this forum i want to share my premature & humble experience about filter (since discussing about filter). ND (neutral density) Grade filter can also used for outdoor portrait shooting, especially at day time with the bright sky. I used ND Filter combined with flash. ND filter to darker the back ground and enhance the color of the sky, while the flash brighter the person (main object). So the portrait become more interesting and not so flat with the background (with more dramatic background tone / color). So if you have ND Grade Filter, might be you can try using it combined with flash / lighting as an option when doing outdoor portrait at day time (with sky as part of the background)

Once again, pardon me for posting these sample, I only want to share my humble experience of using ND Grade filter, not only for landscape photography, but also can use for outdoor portrait photography (with sky as part of the background) :
