Brexit - will it happen ?

Heard just now that immigration, which is what drove the vote, will not really change at all because UK will have to maintain open border. So folks who have been feeling like no one is listening to them will go from angry to willing to listen to demogogues which can be very dangerous. Sort of like what seems to be going on in US a la Trump. And this is why I said just wait until after our vote...

The problem is the politicians keep telling the people the immigrants are good for the economy but poor only see higher unemployment, higher cost of living, the rich getting richer and able to retire in comfort in any one of the EU country.

The GDP doesn't reflect the reality.

The Brits are taking a leaf from Singapore's success story.

After the separation from Malaysia Singapore has overtaken Malaysia economically, in education and in social equity. It has become a more prosperous, progressive and harmonious place to live in.

Let's salute our former colonial masters' courage and determination to go it alone. If Britain ever goes to the dogs the Brits are welcomed to come to Singapore to drive our buses and taxis, clean our streets and collect the dishes in our food courts etc. :)

Big Brother will have the final say - whatever the people may say.

which is another important reason why England (GB!)
as quickly as possible must disappear from the EU.
All decisions & strategies, laws etc. in Brussels
are discussed, are of
the British sent directly to the United States.

And the NSA plus GCHQ are the largest
Minions on the planet.

update

BRUSSELS - 29. June 2016

EU countries without consulting British :):)

The EU leaders are first gathered for a meeting with the exclusion of Great Britain.
At the informal meeting on the second day of the summit in Brussels European Council President Donald Tusk invited.
Participants will discuss, among other things, on the approach to the separation process between the EU and the UK.

...good news!

New world order is a giant trap!

When the news of Britain exiting EU was out last Friday, global markets nosedived like no tomorrow.

After the dust settled on Monday, the markets started to realise there is no big deal of UK leaving EU. In the next couple of days, global markets staged a huge rally and recovered all the losses to pre-Brexit levels. Such irrational sell off on last Friday is a golden opportunity of buying assets at dirt cheap prices. I know of a fund bought at least more than $20m of assets during the sell off on last Friday. Now the fund managers are smiling.

Obviously, some people shorted the markets, thinking that they can reap some gains.

However, a smart or rational investor will take this opportunity to buy instead of sell.

Our Singapore Temasek and HK Li are those who invested heavily in UK. They have commented that what is the big deal of UK leaving EU. Life carries on as per normal.

As I am typing, our local STI powered up.

The big show-off with the big mouth, Boris Johnson will now no longer be Prime Minister.
He has the pants full. :bsmilie:
At the next election would it
send voters with a kick to nirvana.

Proposed referendum on United Kingdom membership of the European Union since a wave of hatred (racism) of the country seems to roll.
The number of "hate/racism crimes", including insults, assaults and about xenophobic graffiti count has risen since last week Friday,
according to police statistics around 57 percent. This is also confirmed in the figures, a development that has been signed since
since Proposed referendum on United Kingdom membership of the European Union referendum.

Under the hashtag #PostRefRacism found in Twitter many smaller and larger verbal attacks against migrants/foreigners.

Singaporeans caution when you vacation in England makes
The racists in "GB" make hunting on you.

I think Boris Johnson will migrate to USA and contest the Presidential race.

USA needs a talent like him. :)

Yeah totally irresponsible.
But on the positive note, there is now one less candidate that is pro bexit. brexit referendum is not final. It is just a guide for the pm. If a pm that is against brexit is elected ...it might get over turned.

The big deal is uk heading for a recession. Europe will get affected as well. Us has a significant trade relationship with uK. Given uk is going to exit eu. They probably will not get a good trade deal. Else every member would exit and still get to eat the pie.

Good thing Though Singapore is relatively sheltered from brexit ... Contagion should not have too big an impact.

China would have a much bigger impact to us.

Anyway the market is abit irrationale right now...major index back at bare brexit level. Of cse pound is still devalued.

Have you talked to Tharman?

He has a different opinion.
