Every year there are new bodies been released, Do we really need
to upgrade to new body or we upgrade our shooting skills ?
Well, both are applicable depending on how you look at it.
It's not just the equipment, but the photographer as well. You can give someone the best DSLR in the world, and he doesn't know to use it, it is just a brick. It is also not just the photogrpaher, but the equipment as well, you can give someone the best animal subject in the world, doing the most interesting thing in the world; hand him a Nokia phone camera and with him knowing that the safe working distance is nearly 800 metres away - he will produce pixels after cropping whatever he shoots (or not make the most of the opportunity, that's my point).
I am a strong advocate of upgrading shooting skills all the time; but I think at the same time, I think as long as you give good justifications (to yourself) to spend the money - it's your money after all. Like some people say, there are those who take the hobby as a pastime and don't get too serious about it, nothing wrong with wanting to get a new toy. Of course, it's always always more prefereable if you actually make use of the improvements or additional features.
Thankfully though, Pentax upgrades are (almost) always substantial, and there's something to look forward too and upgrade. Not sure if that's a good or bad point though. Some days I almost wish that they don't change a thing so that I won't have to spend the money. :bsmilie: But on the bright side, there is always the hope that one day, there will be zero complaints about the camera body I have, so that I can keep it for a long time. The K5 does feel like it, but I also felt that way when I first got the K20D. As long as Pentax keeps making significant improvement to the cameras, then we can keep hoping (and upgrading, where necessary). :bsmilie:
