my friend is getting married and do not know how to look for a good photographer for her Actual Day.

1. wad must she look out for to see how good is the photography skills?
2. why does wedding package for actual day defer so much as in some is 800 plus to 2k/ 3k?

i know there are alot of photographers here, so any advises on these??

look at the portfolio of the photographer
do you like them?
would you want your big day to be captured in that same style?

every photographer have their own unique style and experiences

look at the price, is the work of the photographer worth it?
only you can decide

ortega,
seems so difficult. like dunno wad is good work xia...;)

Actually, i think it'll be good to just take the cheaper of the options if you can't tell the difference between a more expensive photographer and a cheaper photographer. :)

I tell this to everyone that comes through my doors:

There are 4 ways of finding that perfect photographer.

You've found that perfect photographer, seen his work online or at someone else's wedding, met him/her in person, and you're prepared to pay any amount to get him/her to cover the toughest day of your life. Done deal.

If you feel the need to gather a few options as far as photographers are concerned, then by all means go ahead and start meeting them and viewing their portfolios. Don't just shop online and ask for prices, because you're just going to be even more blur. In this case, character compatibility and photography style may be of some importance to you.

However, if you can't find the time to meet photographers, then the best way to shop is to look at pictures first and prices later. Once you've shortlisted those that you like, then ask for rates. After you get the rates, it's as simple as picking the cheapest of the lot.

Finally, you may simply ask for rates and employ the most affordable option. You just want someone to take simple photographs of your wedding day.

Alternatively, if price is a priority and the couple can't really appreciate the differences in the photography:

Set a budget. Be it $500, $1000, $1500, $3000, $5000, $10000, $100000.

With that budget, shortlist photographers that suit that budget (perhaps gotta drop mails to check their prices for some cases).
From the list, shortlist again (if possible) based on preference of the photography
Arrange to meet up with the photographer to ensure a personality match (as suggested by Amos)/

There. You just found a good photographer who fits your budget.

It's just like buying a car or interviewing someone who will work for you. You will need to go through a process of selection -- ones that suits you. That's all there is to it.

Choosing a life long partner is much more difficult than that. If your friend as a adult had made the decision and chose his/ her other half, what difficulties are there to chose a good photographer? IS it the wedding or the photos that rally matters in the marriage?

Not to worry there is always a chance for a backup photographer/s. Can always review the photographer's work and discuss what style you would like the wedding day to be shot with.

Of course not Mumbai hotel style i presume?

these are my pet peeves about AD photographer

1. do not get a photographer who drinks on the job
2. do not get a photographer who dose not respect the occasion by dressing down
3. do not get a introvert photographer, he has to talk to everyone and be comfortable with it

put the budget issue aside first... the most important things are

you must like the works of the photographer, becos this is what you are keeping it with you after your wedding day.

you must comfortable with him/her, and everyone will have a pleasant experience with him in your wedding day.

and these are the two things set a part between the different of good and bad photographers.
