Dear all,

This is Shimmery.

We have noticed your feedback about the photographs on shimmeryphotography.com.

We sincerely apologize for Shimmery's mis-actions and we're deeply sorry for it. We didn't know it will be such a big issue. We take all feedback seriously, and have immediately closed our business/website, taken down ALL photos from our website and social media sites and as a public apology, we have decided to take a hiatus from this industry, and publicly promise to never do anything vaguely similar to what Shimmery has done ever again.

We wish no harm to anybody, and that accordingly, no evil feelings to be harbored against Shimmery also. We have also spoken to the owner of Koro Studio, and being naive photographers in this industry, apologized to Mr Sarit, and we are extremely thankful for him to be so magnanimous. Apart from Mr Sarit, we would also like to extend our apology to the other photographers/photography studios highlighted, as well as all other photographers.

We will start from zero in this industry, slowly building up our portfolio, and contribute back to the community. Today, we learnt a lesson we will never forget. We realized we also do not want the same things to happen to us. Hence, this incident will not happen again.

Once again, we are truly sorry for this incident.

With all these witch hunt going on, I just remembered a teacher who once said, "Let he who has no sins, cast the first stone."

Saying that you are 'naive photographers' isn't really going to help as the actions show a deliberate attempt to showcase other's works as one's which is akin to cheating.

Such is compounded as such actions were for the sake of sales , aka - customers may (I'm just being nice by not saying Are) being cheated.

With the apology being done . I hope that the persons will follow through with their promises , after all - this is a very small industry.

You should open up your Facebook page and others and this should be on the first page, shame on you for THEFT of others works for your own gains, if you had taken any photos from USA based photographers you could be up for a USD $15,000 fine PER PHOTO for your infringement !

agreed with DFive, you should open up your FB page and make a public apology and take down whatever works is not yours.

but then again, this is futile cos u can always use another brand name to start again with your nonsense. Why i said this is cos since young we are taught not to plagiarise and this is like common sense to us already. Especially in this case you are very dumb, taking other photographer's works passing off as yours, you think you can fool end consumers but you probably didn't realise that you cannot fool the photography community especially when you tried very hard spamming your services around. but i give you the benefit of doubt that you have learn your lesson.

"Naive photographers"?

You think this is primary school? Or you think people stupid?

The correct word for you is THIEF aka INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CRIMINAL.

Please, don't "start from zero, slowly build portfolio" and that type of BS, STAY OFF the industry totally.

You are frauding women's hard earned money meant to spend on one of their most important day in their life. So pphhuck off!

It's not only me who has a hard time seeing this as an 'incident' of 'naive photographers' if on the other hand you claimed to be the the best in customer service, something that requires a lot of experience in the respective industry. While your apology here is noted you will have to live with the fact that these lines do not go down easily with many here in CS and out there in Singapore. These lines look well crafted and I hope you haven't used the same approach as with the pictures on your website.
A new start is not about a new business name or location. (Something that is a bit pointless given the close-knit community in Singapore and the never-forgetting Internet.) A new start starts in your mind, recognizing Intellectual Property and legal responsibility. The meaning of the word 'integrity' is also worth pondering about. Without this, any of your future endeavors will fail again.

We took down all related photographs immediately when we learnt about the incident, and are currently revamping and updating our website.

We have published an apology on our official Facebook Page. We assure everyone that all our photographs posted on our website in the future will be all our work.

Hmm...somethings very wrong with Shimmery's business model and how the website is setup in the first place.

1) Private registration on web hosting provider without owner's info
2) No mentioning of their photographers' details/portfolio in website
3) No full contact address stated in website (only building address, no unit number)
4) Swift action by Shimmery to shutdown fb/website, etc after being discovered of IP theft (they know it's wrong in the first place, just waiting for their luck to run dry).
5) Usage of "We" in the "apology letter"...

My guess is that Shimmery photography is some sort of "agency" company. The owners are not photographers themselves but some sort of middleman to link clients to freelance photographers, etc.
Hmm...the plot thickens :D

Totally agree...

Everyone has a chance to start from 0 but when your zero point is based on stealing, I am not sure what these people is capable of.
