Perhaps seller has been receiving better or firmer offer in the midst of going to deal with TS and is anxious to get the deal done or risk the opportunity of not selling at all. Afterall, the ad mentioned no box, etc and seller is still being questioned, a fruitless exercise of time and TS too might hv bargained when the price was already more or less agreed prior to the meeting n therefore seller deliberately chose not to sell for having his time wasted.

Oh... I came across advertisement of a 7D that costed S$825, which I think this is what TS is referring to.

The seller had mentioned that there will not be a box, neck strap and manual involved.

Got warranty meh?

Lost box and receipts and not even any printout of warranty info as stated on website - just a vague yes.

Point taken Mods.

Rhino: At point of closing the deal, I have taken note of all the accessories to be included, and yes I knew the neck strap and box are not included("lost"). Like I stated, 30 mins prior to agreed meeting time, he told me that the dry box was spoilt. I am not that petty to cancel a deal over a cheap dry box. The main point is not about my expectation of the items in the list, but rather his behaviour and etiquette of a seller.

From the start of the meeting he was acting rushed and would only permit a short duration for the dealing. I asked if he want to deal somewhere where I could do a proper check(note: carpark is dim and may conceal any imperfection not declared). He said no, I said fine. I repeated some questions I asked him over SMS - such as confirming the box and receipts to be lost because of "moving house", and asked him to be understanding while I did checking of the dSLR and to make sure nothing is illicit. If you have done purchases from sellers before, you know very well what the question are typically about - regarding the items in question. He did not even have any hard copy documents like warranty printout or whatever proof of ownership he has(apart from a few digital images which can be faked anyway). If you are buying something, you will typically insists on something hardcopy even if its not a receipt or a box.

He started becoming unreasonably urgent and acting suspiciously, giving me an ultimatum to buy it "right now" or the deal's off. I asked for 5 minutes to do a quick check and he obliged. Everything's in order, and as for serial number checking I do not know of any way to check the serial without plugging it into the PC or bringing to service centre, and the seller's rushing didnt help either. The final crux came when he did not even have change for $50, and decided to cancel off just like that. What kind of seller etiquette is that?

Within the span of 5 minutes, it is difficult to think it over and trust my own instinct. Only when it was over did I think that his behaviour over the course of dealing was suspicious as if he was trying to avoid me trying to find out something illicit about the deal and all. Only if u piece everything together, the lack of some thing can be suspicious

Oh, trust me... I did a lot of transaction both from cs bns section and other website too. So I know what questions to ask when looking at the product, but I don't know what I find is standard for me, was standard for you too. Which is funny, because everyone had their own set of questions there is no bible stating which must or must not be asked so I still do not know what is your standard questions... but frankly, that is alright.

The simple question still stands, if you find the seller suspicious and you clearly stated that you think his goods is stolen... why do you still proceed in buying from him?

Also have you give it a thought that people are indeed in a rush. I remember buying an used 40D from a brother here in CS, and he only allow me a couple of minutes to check too. And check the camera pretty fast, found that it was to my satisfaction and thats it. if you are uncomfortable, then call off the transaction. Simple as that.

And it is kind of common that people don't have changes... think of it this way... you too didn't have the exact amount of money, right?

Plus the ad clearly stated that there are missing items and listed the items that will be included in the deal (minus the dry box that was damaged prior to the deal), and if you want, you can ask for discount because of the lack of the dry box... and thats it. There is absolutely no requirement for anyone to provide you a receipt or hard document as proof of ownership. I mean, come on... many people had lost their receipt... like myself. And as I said before, if you are uncomfortable with that... don't buy from that seller. Simple as that.

It is all about price.

Recently, there was a due who sold a very good condition EOS 7D at $650. The seller stated that the camera only comes with a charger and usb cable; nothing else. Box, manuals and all other accessories are not present. Shutter counts are estimated to be 20-30k. Guess what? The camera was sold within mins because the price is priced below market price. I have not seen any EOS 7D selling below $700. I doubt that the buyer was concerned about the missing accessories, warranty status, etc. What matters to him could be the condition, average shutter counts and most importantly the price - $650. I also doubt that the buyer is worried about the camera is a stolen good or not.

The only fact that exists in this thread, racist trolling aside, is that based on your original action of posting the seller's details as well as a threat to report him to the police over a perceived criminal act (thus tainting him in the eyes of the forum audience), is that he has EVERY right to sue you now.

As the moderator has already reminded you, there is nothing conclusive about anything you have said with regards to your original claim.

I am glad that people in this thread have called you out on both counts already, and since you persist in your claims even after you have been cautioned, I hope you DO get sued.

maybe TS felt cheated for his time spent travelling to meet the seller...

I can only feel that way. But like all transaction, that is no reason for that serious claim... but since TS had not reply to this thread, I am thinking that he might have resolved the issue and is no longer interested in pursuing his claim anymore. I am hoping that it was a happy ending.

Happy Ending is always good... not always the case. Sometime I felt we should also exercise some sort of expectation control. To this seller, he may think it is already well-taken care of, or felt that he is selling the right way. But to the buyer, it might not be the case.

Different perspective I guess. We Singaporeans got this thing also, want cheap and good. lol...

Since no more updates from TS. No more evidence to say who ia at fault. Closing thread.
